Grail knife found!

Nice! I love the 85 and the Coping blade is my very favorite secondary blade.

It's a beauty to be sure, but it deserves to be used and enjoy a full life, not sit in a box IMHO. Slice and apple and be done with it. Grill a steak tonite and use it as your dinner knife. Then the fretting will be over with and your precious will be living the life it deserves - reside in your pocket and having a purpose!

Nice snag Dan!

That one is a looker, I would find it hard to put it to use as well. I do love that blade combination though, similar to the Eureka Jack.

Nice score. I have been looking for one these for a long time. I even had a WTB for one as my signature for awhile. Nice pic of a great knife.

Great score! Love the covers on that. I understand your dilemma about preserving vs using as I will be facing that problem very, very soon too ;)

That is one classy looking knife and it looks like a great every day carry. It bet if cuts like a lazer and that coping blade would cut through blister packs like a hot knife through butter. Congrats on you grail!!

Beautiful knife Dan, glad you found your Grail :)

Thanks everyone! I'm sure I'll wind up carrying it in my user rotation soon. It's just too nice to leave at home in a display case all the time. :) It is making me think more and more about modding my existing 85 to match. I'd just have to grind the pen blade down in to a coping blade, and file out an easy open notch. It'd be neat to have a pair with the same blade configuration.

Well, I had some free time at work today, so I decided to attempt the above. I'm fairly pleased with the results!

My existing 85 before (along with my trusty 15):

I like it! I might change the angle of the end of the newly minted coping blade, but overall I'm pretty happy with my first attempt at a mod!

Thanks for looking!

Very nice job there, must take nerve as well as skill mind :D

The Ivory Bone on your 'grail' is an ideal choice, starts to age quite quickly and effectively, here's my liner-lock version, single-blade. Thanks, Will

Thanks! I'm really sure you'll be reveling in owning that knife, well worth the wait.

Awesome job on the mod! I have almost negative mechanical skills; how did you do the notch? Just hand file it?

Thank you all! I used a small sanding drum in a variable speed dremel and just taped off all around the area I didn't want to grind. I went extra slow and kept checking to make sure the grind was straight across all the layers.
