Grail Knife moment - with a family story

Jeff,
Thanks for sharing the story and photos.
Your Grandfather's knife is a real treasure.
I think it it is in beautiful used condition.

Very nice story and knife. My grandparents farmed in Eastern NC also. Sampson county to be exact.

That's so cool to find that kind of stuff. It truly is priceless. Thanks for sharing your story with us.

Great story, i can relate to missing your grandfathers knife...but in my case it was my fault i lost it somewhere when i was young. Anyway, i was at my fav flea market and did not pass by a boker 9695 for $5. It looks like it might be jigged delrin not bone. I would be more than happy to send it to you for your son to have one "just like great grampas" but wont be a big deal if lost or broken. Email me if interested kseas165 at gmaildotcom

What a great find thank you so much for this post it put a smile on my face. The day you pass it down to your son will be almost as great the day you found it. A couple of years ago I was able to pass my grandfather's .22 Remington down to my son and he pledged to pass it on to my grandson when the right day comes and I must say that left quite an impression on me to know this old gun will be going down through the family.

Congratulations on your monumental discovery, Jeff!:thumbup: Finding those keepsakes from your grandfather is awesome; that Boker is simply gorgeous. And thanks for sharing your story here, too.

What a treasure you have there. That knife is more beautiful than any safe queen out there.

I have tried to start using and enjoying more of my knives recently. Just so there will be some that have been loved and used before I am gone. I only have a few of my Dad's that he used and they are by far more special to me than any others.

Carry that knife with love.

Jeff, you know that you need to carry that knife as well! Don't let it just sit around waiting for your boy to own it. Think of the meaning when he sees you using it as well as telling him that Grandpa used it also. Congrats on the knife and the story!

Great story and great find Jeff! If he bought his knife in Greenville it could have come from Pitt Hardware (or someplace like it) - look in the middle left of this May 4th, 1955 photo and you can see the big Boker display cabinet sitting in the store. OH

Great story Jeff, this is how knife should look like, much better than the newer version on the photo you found.

wow, that is a spectacular looking knife, and the blades have plenty of life left! Glad to hear not all was lost.
