Kind of 2 questions slightly related

Does grain size have any affect on the final HRC of a blade after heat treatment?

If you put two blades at say.. 58HRC beside each other, one could still out perform the other if steps were taken on one to minimize grain size? (normalizing?)

Still trying to wrap my head around the academic part of all this..

Grain size won't affect the hardness, but will affect the hardenability. Max hardness will be the same, assuming requirements for reaching full hardness are met. Performance and toughness will be affected by large differences in grain size.
