Grand Baby Chitlangi

I like that idea Magnum...Post #54 is sweet

however I am concerned about the strength of the finger thingy..Wouldnt that thing be easily bent?

Nice pictures, thank you westfork

Ok, this is my 1000th post and I wanted to do it here :D

How about a question: could this project really end up in a EDC khukri? It would be great!

You guys are great. I got in HI forums maybe 2 months ago and it almost feels like a family. The only other place I feel like this is on "france-balisong", a forum with 75 members.

lol hilarious thread  :D
told you westfork it would be derailed... :p
keep up the good work magnum22 ;)

also, i'm aware how dumb it must look to submit amateur knife designs on a forum infested with professional knife makers and steel junkies who've seen and thought just about everything possible that relates to the knife.

isn't that exactly how a few HI designs came about? someone had an idea, a few people tossed it around, some drawings, someone made a wood model, some people committed to buying some if prototypes were made, voila!

i'd be all over an EDC foxybit :)

but as in my previous list... it's gotta stay thin - robust is fine but the HI kerambit is almost TOO robust for EDC :>

to be practicial, a finger groove for the index finger was on the current kerambit would rock, but lots of them would be very time consuming to forge/cut in... the jimping ... mmm, might inhibit smooth draw, and could chew up clothes/skin in a body hugging sheath - maybe - you can always ADD jimping/file-work later (adds to cost).

a leafier thinner foxy folly esque kerambit - yah, that would be sweet. careful sharks, i'm still after [anotehr] 'bit...

for real EDC, a folding foxybit :)

ohhhh man....
com'on bladite... you know you want to start sketching the plans for the folding foxy :D DO IT!!!

So I'm not alone to think that the kerambit blade is a little fat for EDC?

Watching pics again, I still think the best would be (IMO, MY perfect EDC khukri):

-Chiruwa handles like the baby BDC.
-Finger grove (index) like the kerambit
-Chitlangi blade: not too thin, not too big. I still think the kerambit's blade is a little wide for a EDC.
- Horn handle :D I love those.
- Kydex sheath: this could lower the production costs (and give Dan/Dave some work ;))
-Villager finish (satin). I don't like shiny EDCs.
- 7.5" OAL.

For the finger grove and the jimping, I think anyone can do this at home: a half round file and a chainsaw file can do the work no?

If only I had time to draw (and talent)

As my drawing skills are as good as a monkey's, I just modified Magnum's sketches to show the way I see it:

(my blades are not really good, imagine a chitlangi blade there)
edckhuk2.jpg

It even appears the right size: 7.5" OAL :D

Are you hard yet Jimmy?

ohhh man.... time to fire up my scanner :D
give me a few hours as my sketching skills umm SCKKKK :p

EDIT: i forgot how rarely i use pencils in the house... i dont have a sharpener!!! lol no worries thats why we have knives :)
just finished what i orginally had in mind.... sorry for the vague sketch but its my first one while eating a sandwich with a hand lol.
let me upload... one sec

lol, dont laugh... :foot: i got another one comming without the kerambit ring

imageshack is acting up... ill load it when it backup
i like my second design alot better

here we go with #2 (my idea of a neck knife... finger grooves were ruff, will change it later):

I think we are somewhat converging, except for those 2 details:

Finger ring vs finger groove
Wide blade vs thin blade

I think a finger ring would be hard for the kamis to make :S I did not saw any drill press in HI pics :P

i think it would be possible for them to make a finger ring... IE the kerambit thats already out :D

i have a more refined version of my last sketch... i'll also make it a thinner blade for you cybrok :)

heres the fatty blade:

heres chit/keram blade:

ok... nuff drawing for today lol

On second tought, "my" design could only be some mods on a baby BDC, if only there were 7.5" baby BDCs

That's what it would look like (based on an actual baby BDC pic)
bdcmod-1.jpg

I love that one :)

<~~~does kydex work as well remember?? Andy does it as well

NUH!

Jai...How about printing out a fullsize drawing of that thing and send it to me?? I mean "full scale" or whatever

Thanks

I am an egg

I am a chicken

...

I am the weakest link

Goodbye!

ok leatherface will do... :)
which one... the fatty or other ones

EDIT: whats your email dave?
well at any route... my design is only 7" from tip to tip lol
i can fax over the design to anybody who wants to get a feel for it
just print it, cut it and past it on cardboard lmao

Well, you're on the ring's side. I'm not, but a file could turn a ring into an index groove, but the opposite is impossible.

I can already imagine that one in my hands...
