Grandad's New Knife!

Congratulations! That's a fine knife to keep as a memento of the day. Teach your granddaughter about knives so you can give it to her when she is old enough to appreciate it.

A double mazeltov to you today, Jack! Not only did you find a beauty of a knife, but you got to welcome a wonderful new joy into your world. Congratulations, brother!

Oh, and the bit about presenting her with that knife someday? Yup, you're going to make a world class grandpa.

congratulations on both the new grandchild and the excellent find to commemorate her birth, and thanks for the chance to follow you through the Leeds market.

Jack,
I haven't met your grandchild of course, just seen her in the picture you posted. But...
No matter if she'll ever be a knife enthusiast or not, this knife, somehow, came along with her. And it's no surprise that such a cute little girl has come along with such a fancy elegant refined knife :)
Congrats again!

Great way to commemorate the most wonderful of occasions Jack.

Again, my sincere congratulations.

The knife is a wee beaut!

Congrats on becoming a grandpa :). That is quite the knife find as we'll. sounds like you had a very good day :)

I can even do the trick where you make it look like your thumb has been cut off! :D Thanks Frank :)

My grandad could too. Of course, his had been. That wasn't the only trick he'd pull with the kids. He would tell them, "see what happens if you suck your thumb!" or ask them if they could put their thumb in their ear. Have fun grandpa!

Now about the in-hand photo (great contrast by the way): do you have large hands or is this just a small knife, perhaps of the Eisenhower size (3 1/8 inches)? I only ask because I just won Duane's give-away of a Texas Jack and if I posted an in-hand photo of it someone might think he gave away a peanut!

Thank you once again my friends, for all your overwhelmingly kind and generous words and good wishes. I'm very touched, as always, by your generosity. There are a couple of photos of Lilah, one day old, posted in Carl's Lounge :)

Congratulations Grandpa Jack! I just got my 1st grand child this past year also.
That pen is a beauty, those older pearl handled knives with out bolsters & with out fractures are getting harder to come by all the time. Sometimes its just meant to be  Enjoy them both!

Dave

Thanks Dave, and a belated congratulations to you too :) It's one of the nicest old knives I've found, and in mint condition. Quite strange since I've never seen any other knives in the Leeds market, let alone one of this quality. Glad I went back for a closer look. I'll certainly be passing it onto Lilah, though I'm kind of hoping she prefers gnarly old carbon blades! :D

Thanks a lot Wade, sounds like your Granded went to the same Grandad school as my own! :D

My hands aren't small, I always take the largest size gloves I can find here, but they're tiny compared to Duane's! After one of Duane's knife-dwarfing signature pics, I posted a pic of me holding a Vic Classic to try and make my hands look bigger! :D

The penknife is 3 1/2 inches closed :)

A beauty indeed Jack! And I'll add my congratulations on the birth of your granddaughter too :)

Cheers,
Griff

Congratulation to the fresh :D granddad and a very elegant pen knife suitable to your new status  It always reminds you this great day when you first became grandfather.

Cheers Mike! :D

Congratulations Jack on both, especially the granddaughter! That fine pen jack looks like a shadow end Case Eisenhower pattern! That's a dandy old Sheffield!
