My daughter just called a few minutes ago and told me that Jessica is going to be put on Remicade as she is staring another flare with her Crohns Disease. Remicade, at least in Jessica's case, is an IV administered drug and is the last ditch drug to control Jessica's Crohns Disease.:(
Remicade produces flu like symptoms in most people and the Dr said it would take from 2 to 3 hours to complete each treatment and has to be done at the hospital.
Jessica is only 12 and is slow although she is doing well in her special classes. Stella has explained to Jessica that what she eats can make her sick and even kill her, but we don't think Jessica totally understands.
And being on steroids in the form of Prednisone doesn't help any as the damned stuff makes you eat with the appetite of a T.Rex. I know as I have a love/hate relationship with pred myself. It's a wonderful drug, but can be very destructive to the human body.
A lot of my problems stems from being on it for ten years and I hate to see my granddaughter on it, but at this time there's no other choice, at least not any better ones and the Dr isn't going to increase the dosage on it.
So please, if you will, add Jessica's name to your prayer list once again.

Grrrraarrgghhh...

I freakin' hate it when this happens to good people.

Best of Luck! She'll be in my thoughts!

Yvsa,
I pray things go well for your granddaughter, also for you and the rest of your family as well. Take care!
Mike

Yvsa, as soon as I get home tonight, I'll send up some smoke from the old spot by the rosemary. Hang in there!

The world is full of suffering, I've resigned myself to that fact, but the suffering of children is hardest to abide. I will add my prayers for Jessica. Luck, good or bad, is a fickle thing, but love is ever constant and enduring.

i dont know what this smokey business is, but all i can do is pray for her and your families recovery

The wife has lit the biggest candle she has. When she knows children are hurting she can't hold back tears.:(
