My daughter just called a few minutes ago and told me that Jessica is going to be put on Remicade as she is staring another flare with her Crohns Disease. Remicade, at least in Jessica's case, is an IV administered drug and is the last ditch drug to control Jessica's Crohns Disease.
Remicade produces flu like symptoms in most people and the Dr said it would take from 2 to 3 hours to complete each treatment and has to be done at the hospital.
Jessica is only 12 and is slow although she is doing well in her special classes. Stella has explained to Jessica that what she eats can make her sick and even kill her, but we don't think Jessica totally understands.
And being on steroids in the form of Prednisone doesn't help any as the damned stuff makes you eat with the appetite of a T.Rex. I know as I have a love/hate relationship with pred myself. It's a wonderful drug, but can be very destructive to the human body.
A lot of my problems stems from being on it for ten years and I hate to see my granddaughter on it, but at this time there's no other choice, at least not any better ones and the Dr isn't going to increase the dosage on it.
So please, if you will, add Jessica's name to your prayer list once again.
