Hi Everyone,

I'm new here and would like to hop right in and get straight to the story.

My grandfather passed away and left me with a huge identification task. He was a great grandfather and took great care of all of his collectables. One of those categories being Knives.
However I wasn't able to grow up a ton around him and only saw him more consistently as I was older, since I lived in another country. Due to this, before his passing he let me know I would be inheriting all of his collection, even though he was never able to teach me all about them.
My family trusted me since I was the most aware and knowledgeable in handling things like Knives and Firearms. I also value the emotional affection towards collectibles and understand how much it meant to him. That being said, I'm great at identifying firearms but am at a loss with Knives. I know the basics and have read up on their components, names, types, functionality, metals, etc. But Its proven difficult to identify some of these knives.
I can pretty much identify a few of the above basics in the current knives but no way in hell can I tell what year they are or even get the accurate model name for them (Some have a sticker, but those have since moved around during transit).

That's where I could use help from the truly knowledgeable. My purpose is to identify, log these in a spreadsheet along with all their details (make, model, metal, type, etc.).
I'll post some of them here in hopes I can gain some direction. Let me know If more information or better pictures are required/needed.

There are even more than the ones I'm posting. Its overwhelming.

The Randalls should be fairly easy to identify. You might want to contact Randall Knives and see if the can be of an help.
Not sure about the first Marbles, but it appears that there are 3 Loveless design Sport 99 models and two Lil Handy knives that were an AG Russell exclusive.
One thing though....You posted pictures of a lot of knives that are potentially worth a very significant amount of money.
You'll be getting messages asking to sell, lowball offers by vultures that lurk here looking to get them cheap before you know what you have. Don't respond to any offers or sell anything until you absolutely know what you have......

Thank you Sharp & Fiery Sharp & Fiery I was unaware of the value question requiring a membership. I'm sorry about that.
And yes, I wish I could have spent more time with him. He was the only one in the family truly into the same things I was.

A Arathol Yes, I am aware of that, lots of Vultures, I'll always ensure to correlate the prices and poke around in many other areas to ensure a proper value. To me these Knives are part of what lives on from my grandfather and I do not see myself selling all of them off anytime soon due to that. However the ones that I do, I will do my best to honor my grandfather and get what they are worth.

I appreciate you ID'ing the Marbles!

Not to worry at all. Now ya know. :)

Welcome to the forums. I'm sorry for your loss.

It looks like quite a nice collection. As mentioned for values you'll need to buy a Gold or higher membership but there are several very knowledgable members that can most likely help with identification specifics.

I'm sure you will get offers to buy many of them. I wouldn't rush into selling until you can get a good handle on the models and values.

The membership is well worth the cost. Most members are very willing to help where they can. I've made some good friends and learned lots.

There are several Randall Facebook groups, I would check those out for info on ID'ing and value. No need to make a post, just search the model number in the group and see what various knives sold for in the past. I would advise against posting there until you have a good idea on value as your inbox will be desecrated if you post those pictures. Generally the big auction site will have slightly inflated values when compared to other avenues like FB.

Black and Decker? Must be nice, I got Harbor Freight tools from mine.
I think it was from a really bad, really offshore (I'm not saying those two things are related - it just so happens that it fits into both categories...) period for B&D. Trust me when I say that Harbor Freight would've been a step up. 🤣

On the other hand, I do believe the toenail clippers are of Solingen manufacture, so they could've been worse. They might fetch a good price on the secondary but only from someone who never saw my grandfather's toenails. 😱

Sorry to hear about your Great Grandfather.

I don't think your Grandfather has left you with a huge identification task at all, it's isn't like you have been left with a 5000 piece collection, you have some handfuls of very well known knives where finding prices won't be all that difficult whatsoever or wont be that difficult to move on as they will sell fairly quickly if reasonable & fair prices to match the Knives. A few emails and you will have all the information required to have a fairly reasonable idea of values.

You are stating that you are unable the identify such huge names like Randall or Arno Bernard, Puma and Marbles? These are some of the most well known names in the Knife World. I would have thought to contact the makers company would be the very first place to start for anyone.
.
As well as protection for the op newcomer - don't forget protection for the people wanting to buy the knives as well, in cases like this a newcomer with lots of amazing Knives turns up and no history could be a dangerous thing.
I am not saying that the op is a scammer - but what a beautiful platform for a scammer, so if anyone is to contact the op to sell and the answer is yes, you may want to be very careful, if the op is genuine perhaps contact a well known Knife dealer or person who has a good reputation and perhaps sell through them if you do not have an existing selling platform like an E-bay account with a feedback history etc.

I am sure both seller and buyer can see this, the list of banned scammers in this forum alone is huge, so simple caution all round for all parties.

I Appreciate the useful information that you did provide. I can identify the Manufacturer on most in the image. That's the reason each image has been labeled. I reached out to the manufacturers and haven't heard back. There is a reason I'm asking for insight. Thank you anyway.

Adding FB to the list of sites to check along with Ebay. Thanks!

Hey, no problems and not looking meaning anything negative. When you asking to help identify the make, model etc- that what I was meaning.

I hope you can understand the points of what and where one would have to be careful here- for yourself being underpaid, or for someone buying from someone who pops up who hasn't a history here with some very nice Knives that they need to move on - I think that the comments I made are not attacking you but words of caution.

Honestly, as others have said make a list under makers, google the Makers name and search Randall Catalogs, Marbles Catalogs, Puma Catalogs - you will find out a lot of model numbers - then you can go further once you find out model numbers.

Then... you can source a seller or whatever.

No harm here either. Just wanted to clarify that I'm also not looking for someone to do all the work for me. Seeking guidance to ensure I'm researching in the right areas and if someone can identify a few here and there, that's great too.
