You need a paying membership to ask for value. Also, you may have people asking to buy these…my suggestion…buy a Gold membership here first…it’s gonna be worth it.

Very sorry for your loss E EphemeralFire :( Your grandfather had great taste

The suggestion given is a good one, a Gold Membership is inexpensive, and a good investment in my opinion. Please note that your first post is editable, and removing the mention of the value of this collection, will prevent others, who also haven't read the forum rules, from breaking them too

A really decent looking collection of fixed blades, quality and in excellent condition. Are there any folding Traditonals as well ? Your ancestor certainly had taste.

There's hopefully, no rush or pressure in this but I think the advice A Arathol gave about you potentially being swamped with offers and enquiries from opportunist scavengers is true. So be cautious, not everybody on a knife forum is as scrupulous as they would like to pretend

Probably you'll want to retain a few for personal reasons , use, and of course get the best prices possible for the others in homage to your late grandfather. But be calm and patient in this, about values there are always a lot of different opinions. Good luck, and it'd be nice to see more individual pictures too if possible.

Thanks, Will

If we can keep the discussion to the knives and not the value I'll leave this thread in place. If not it'll get closed or moved offline.
As has been mentioned, you need a gold or higher membership to ask about values.

Sincere condolences on your loss.

Unless you need the money for food or rent, don't sell. Get a Gold membership, the advice you have already been given is worth more than the price.
Agree with this.

Over and over again - from knives, to guns, to cameras, to video games, jewelry, watches, and more -- most of the time when I hear about someone selling a loved one's collection of whatever it is, I also wind up hearing about seller's remorse.

My opinion, hold on to them for awhile. Spend that time trying to figure what made them desirable to your grandfather and why he held onto them as he did.

Edited my initial post. Thank you!

Thank you. And yes as a word of caution for both parties is never bad, I agree. I myself work in IT Security and have plenty of experience in the digital world with scams. Like I've said before, I truly value my grandfathers time, dedication and money that went into this, to me it is more than that and is a physical representation of him on earth right now, they are part of who he was so I don't take it lightly. I'll definitely be sure to do my best to get what he would have sold them for If I decide to sell a few.

Sorry for the passing of your grandfather. He had very good taste in knives. My suggestion is spend a little time with the collection. If he had some favorites those I would keep.

I think it was from a really bad, really offshore (I'm not saying those two things are related - it just so happens that it fits into both categories...) period for B&D. Trust me when I say that Harbor Freight would've been a step up. 🤣

On the other hand, I do believe the toenail clippers are of Solingen manufacture, so they could've been worse. They might fetch a good price on the secondary but only from someone who never saw my grandfather's toenails. 😱

GEC needs to come out with a pair of nail clippers, with marrow bone on the handle.

As for OP, Randall's website is pretty easy to use, where it can get tricky is figuring out the different options. Knifetalk forums did a "knife of the week" for about every model of randall knife. Reviewing those past threads and pics will get you better acquainted with different models and what the options are called/look like. Just Google "randall model (insert model #) knife of the week and look for the knifetalk posts. Idk if they are still "active" as far as posting but it's a wealth of image knowledge.

Why on earth would we need toenail clippers that only 12 people can get and that go for 6x what they're worth on the secondary?! 🤣
