Got this great little hatchet recently and have been using it as a fireplace hatchet inside. This thing makes fire building fun again. No newspaper neede to start just some seasoned pine split off into small sticks and presto.....FIRE!!!!! Great balance and perfect size for the hearth. I have the 1st pattern of this hatchet and have not tried the newer version that more closely resembles the mini belt hatchet. This one looks like their forest axe, but at 14 inches. If you've been thinking about buying one I think you'll really like what you'll get.

I just got one of those myself to keep in the gear bag in the back of my Rover. Haven't had a chance to play with it yet but it looks like a very well made tool.

As a tip Dan I'd put some RIG or other long term rust preventative on the head as the mild steel underneath gets oxidized with the sheath on. Mine came that way to me and I wiped it down and RIGed it.

Just got home from a trip to Kansas City. Setting here fondeling my brand new Wildlife hatchet! The hair just jumps off of my arm. Can't wait to get home from work tomorrow to go do some chopping.

Just curious guys, what are the forgers initials on your hatchets???? Mine are MM for Matias Mattson. Are yours the same??? Lastnight I tried choking up un the handle and carve slices of wood off some kindling . The hatchet is small enough for easy control in doing so.

Both of mine are initialed LP for Lennart Peettersson, if that is any help.

The initials on mine are MM for Matias Mattson also. Just got in the house, been out side doing some chopping. They do make the chips fly.

Mine is also stamped MM. Great craftsmanship on this small hatchet.

Regards,
FK
