Well it's been a busy last couple of weeks:

Anybody remember Dr Gene
Well this customer saw the pic of the Toothpick the doctor posted and liked it enough to have Dan make a copy. During that um..uh "discussion" on CKD Tim Adlam (www.adlamngraving.com) sent me some pics of a toothpick and sheath that reside in his collection - that sheath was the inspiration for this one.
I decided to do it a little different than the original which had a brass(?) tip - I made this one to look like a frontiersman had mucked up the metal tip (copper here) and did a "fix" by cutting a piece of the tip to use as an inlay and wrapped it with leather Then everything was "re-attached" to the body of the sheath with brass tacks and copper wire lacing.
The color is a bit off - the sheath is aged burgundy - just couldn;t seem to get the variations in the color to show up that well.

Man that's a nice combo, they really go well together. You both do great work, congrats.
Regards,
Greg

Thanks Ripper - Dan's knives are always a joy to work with.
BTW this sheath like the original was designed to be stuck under the belt - the flap kept it from sliding through.

It was a pretty good two weeks all things considered (was dealing with an illness in the family which took time and energy). Anyway everything just seemed to go together and flow - a few minor glitches but even those seemed to just add to the overall effect.

I guess you've been busy, that again is some terrific work, by you and Dan. Can't wait to see whats next.

Bill

I heard back :D "The sheath arrived last night. I really like the way you did the tip with the copper wire, etc. The antiquing is superlative. They just get better and better!!! It's plenty cool......"

The great handle work and the sheath work and coloring just go together. The blade and sheath compliment each other just as well. Alot of thought and craftsmanship went into both.
