Greasing bearings?

I have some mounting bearings and they have a grease port and I was wondering how should I grease them? and how often? the bearings are on a homemade sander.

I asked Rob Frink at Beaumont Metal Works how to grease the pillow block bearings on my KMG and he said I did not have to because the bearings themselves are sealed even though the pillow blocks have zirc fittings. I am not sure about others.

It is possible to over grease bearings. These types of bearing have so much clearance and run so slow it's less of an issue, but even then, no more than a couple squirts is necessary and filled until it's oozing out is too much and can make them run hot.
