Great, a Peanut-sized hole in my pocket.

Today was a relaxed day at Casa de Espada y Escudo, and most of the day I'd been wearing scrub pants. Cheap, thin, light and perfect for working out in, which I'd been doing.

Then, I thought going for a walk with my wife and the dog was a good idea. Toss on some shorts, drop my Peanut and keys in my pocket, and we went. After, though, on reaching to get my keys, something felt wrong.

The Peanut wasn't there. There's a small hole in my pocket I hadn't seen.

I'm bummed. I can replace it for about $35, but still. That knife was a gift from JAB a couple years ago, and it was finally just about right. I'd smoothed the scales with sandpaper, the clip blade had a nice patina, and it was a pocket razor.

Guess I'll be heading back out there tomorrow morning. Should I mention the trail is two miles long, and leaves are falling here? I should hunt down the list of dealers here, too.

Man sorry to hear. I lost a peanut a couple years sgo, found it in my parking spot the next day. Hope it turns up.

What is the handle? Hopefully something bright...... Good luck on your search!

first things first. sew that hole in your pocket. second, good luck finding the knife.

Sorry for the lose. Maybe check with a friend or neighbor and see if they have a metal detector.

Sorry to hear about your loss S&S and I hope you manage to find your knife. Have you thought about getting one of those extending magnets (a small magnet on what looks like a radio aeriel) that tool shops sell, might help you search among the leaves?

Edit - Sorry BigBill, missed your post!

The loss of any pocket knife is sad. But the loss of a bone handled peanut with a good patina is operetta tragic. The Cult will mourn for it.

Its bone,it smells of bone and of your pants pocket and you own a dog that went on the very walk with you.
I know who I'd be taking with me to help look for it.
I think you will find it.
cheers.

Look, Sword and Shield-- Meako is offering to go on a walk with you! I'd take him up on it. ;)

No, if you go walkabout with an Australian, you might be gone for months!

(I know, I saw a film about it once!) :D ;)

he must be out searching the area as we speak. hope he finds it.

Two hours later, nothing. Asked the volunteers who pick up trash, they hadn't seen anything. With that many leaves on the ground it's borderline impossible, even assuming no one picked it up.

So, the decision. Red like I had and liked as a worry stone, or yellow? Neither would be any improvement in this situation, the leaves are all red, yellow and brown.

Crap. I liked that little bugger. :(

OUCH. For years now, I have been buying the iron-on knee patches at Wal-Mart from the crafts/sewing section. They stick like gorilla glue to the typical cotton pockets sewn into our pants, and reinforce them strong enough for even the weight of a pocket-gun.

Won't help for THIS peanut, but perhaps the next.

Pockets are often made of far too flimsy material, even on so-called quality trousers/jeans.

Really annoying for you, you've been having some poor luck lately. At least it went missing in use rather than lost in a move or stolen... The combined will-power of forum well-wishers will cause it to be found.

Regards, Will Power :D

Take another look around the house and your yard - could have dropped through the hole before you started your journey.

That is just terrible.:( I had a close call once, then the second time was even closer so I made sure that would never happen again. On my jeans and cargo britches the wife sewed entirely new bomb proof pockets ONTO the older ones (after fixing the one hole) and get this.....used my "Stealth Camo Braid Spider Wire".

One of my pocket tools had worked its way through and was holding on by one of the prys/screw driver ends. If you can borrow a metal detector or use a local club, if it's there....they will find it. Good luck guy, hope you find it.

I agree with this with the exception of not trusting them just because they have adhesive. I learned that after maybe 2 1/2 months. The have to actually be sewn ONTO.....actually becoming one pocket. If you trust the adhesive it's a matter of time before it works/curls up and then finds or makes another hole. This is from experience that I speak about.
