Great, a Peanut-sized hole in my pocket.

I agree with this with the exception of not trusting them just because they have adhesive. I learned that after maybe 2 1/2 months. The have to actually be sewn ONTO.....actually becoming one pocket. If you trust the adhesive it's a matter of time before it works/curls up and then finds or makes another hole. This is from experience that I speak about.

I can't get a 'graphic' on here to line-up when I preview the post, LOL. The idea is to use the WHOLE patch, not just patch-the-HOLE.
fold the patche over in half such that the bottom seam of your pocket is in the crease of the fold. Make sure you have patch that extends a good half-inch FORWARD of the leading edge of the pocket. That bottom-most corner is the part that fails the most. Thus, you have patch glued to the pocket, and glued to ITSELF reinforcing that forward edge. :D

How about one of those magnetic "brooms" that they use at construction sites to sweep up nails? You can pick one of those up for just a little more than it would cost you to just go out and buy another Peanut.

The "just a little more" is the problem. Cash is tight. I can argue the $30 for a replacement, but the $25 for a nail broom on the chance that someone hasn't already picked it up is a tough sell. I'd love it back, but I'm concerned how $25 can become $55 if the peanut doesn't show itself.

sometimes things turn up when you least expect it. try not thinking about it or looking too hard and maybe it'll pop up.

Oh, I know. The day after a new one comes in the mail, I'll walk out there and spot it.

It's just frustrating- you couldn't make a more impossible setting to find a traditional folder in. Dirt, leaves of red, orange, brown and gold, and shadows. I could be a foot from it and miss it.

I'm calling the visitor center tomorrow to see if it turns up, and if not, likely getting another.

Sorry to hear of your loss, I'd be quite bummed out too. I'm very protective of my pocket knife. This sort of tragedy is something that will have all of us checking out pocket liners now, so thanks for the heads-up. Hope you find it.

I lost my favorite 8OT earlier this year in exactly the same way. I was standing in a store and coins started falling out of my pocket and I realized that they were falling through a hole. Then I noticed that my Schrade was missing.:(
It's been replaced but I still miss that one.
I sure hope you find yours. You never know, it just might show up when you least expect it.

I lost a knife a couple of months back and it sucks. I have a Chestnut Bone CV Peanut that I don't really carry. It's yours if you can't find it tomorrow; shoot me a message and let me know.

Sorry to hear about your loss S&S and I hope you manage to find your knife. Have you thought about getting one of those extending magnets (a small magnet on what looks like a radio aeriel) that tool shops sell, might help you search among the leaves?

These don't work as fast, but they can be had for as little as $1, and they're a very useful addition to your toolbox.

It’s amazing how much clutter those “brooms” will pick up, rolling over a lawn.

I’m not sure how well they would work over uneven ground. It’s still worth trying, if you can borrow or rent one.

No, if you go walkabout with an Australian, you might be gone for months!

(I know, I saw a film about it once!) :D ;)

I did, but Pasha isn't the best nose in the business. Didn't ping on anything, though he appreciated a walk.

maybe leave a lost knife sign near the beginning of the trail. it's possible somebody picked it up and the knife is waiting to be claimed.

Very generous offer rpdknife!!!!!

Way to go!!

Thanks! I hope he finds his. Offering mine is a little thing, but sometimes that's what matters most!

Awfully nice. I'm new here and I'm really enjoying this community.

+1 on all the suggestions, both proactive and detective, others have offered. Post flyers at the park office and at the trail entrances if they'll let you. Craigslist. And if you don't see it again, George Carlin has a great routine on being re-united in the Next Life with a huge pile of our 'lost stuff'. In chronological order of loss. I don't know how to post a youTube link here, but it's worth viewing. Good luck.

I dropped you a message, rpdknife.

Well, after two close searches, as well as enlisting the help of the staff there and checking around, it's not coming up. I'll keep checking their lost and found, but at the moment, nothing.

Today is either a yellow sodbuster or a Ben Hogan in gold. Not losing another one.

I tossed those shorts, too. Too many little wear holes to be worth mending at this point.
