Great Big Waki Picture Thread

Gregorio, that's a nice design on that sheath. How do you usually carry it?

Thanks. It will accommodate a 2.5" belt which is what I usually do. It's hard to tell in the pic but the belt loops are slightly canted for a forward angle. Also it is good for either left or right handed carry.

I only took it on a few day hikes when I was living in Ireland and was careful to be in the middle of no where being the UK; anything pocket knife and larger I'm pretty sure is illegal.

I think this is one of the few tactical pieces out there that actually has a reasonable weight and handling.

Maybe Joe Paranee or STeven Garsson? I think both are traditionally trained. I would like to see a review from someone who knows how to use a sword.

I'm not interested and am fairly sure that Joseph might not be either. I use and train with traditionally mounted blades, and am unmotivated to try anything that is not created with that template.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Bummer. It was just that traditional perspective that I was hoping to get. One of my close friends is a former world champion in kyokushin karate though, so I often get his opinion on the blades I make for balance and geometry.

The Swamp Rat Rodent Waki cuts through thick vines in a single swing (2 inch thick vine, 2 handed grip), and can cut through saplings in a single cut as well.
Both were done with a downwards angled cut, coming left to right, body rotation at the waist.
The balance is different than with traditional wakis, but I didn't think I was buying a traditional design.:)

Lot of finishing work left to do, but here's a waki I've been working on:

5160 steel, redwood burl scales. Regular ole pins.

Thanks, the Scrapizashi sheath is pretty cool also. This one is by Rainwalker, the AK sheath is by Armoralleather.
