I ordered some knife steel from Chuck Bybee at Alpha Knife Supply. The package arrived in a damaged condition. Part of one side had been torn open and some of the steel was lost.
I e-mailed Chuck about it, and in a very short time he sent a package that had the replacement steel.
We often hear of bad customer service, but this is a case of great customer service.

The Bybees are great people. Always so helpful on the phone, fast shipping, top materials. Everything you could ask for and more.

Wonder what happened to your package to open it like that. Everything I get from them is packed so well I almost need my angle grinder and a sawzall to open it. :)
 
The mail and package carriers can do amazing things to destroy packages :D I'm sure it isn't intentional, but I have had a couple that looked like they dragged them to the house behind the truck, instead of in it!
 
I just leave a message on the machine,since they have all my info, they send it.

Troop, when you call and we don't answer please leave a message. Sometimes during the day we are on the phone continually. Other times we are in the shop with the dust collector running and we cannot hear the phone. If you leave a message we will call you back.

I don't know what happened to Tom's first package. As John Doyle mentioned, we go overboard on the packaging and we are proud of it! However, some packages still get opened. We've added another reinforcement to the packaging which should eliminate future problems. John, you may have to use a plasma cutter on your next package! ;)

Jessica is the head packager and she takes pride in getting knifemakers the maximum value when shipping. The record is 16 pounds of blade steel in a USPS Flat Rate envelope! We always charge actual shipping so there are no surprises when you get your bill. We ship 96% of our orders in one business day.

Love dealing with these folks. They carry ALL the top notch stuff that even the most picky knife snob needs/wants and are super easy to deal with. :)
