I picked up a Leatherman Surge at my local Target today on clearance for $56... Usually listed at $79.95. I got the last one at my store in St.Petersburg but if you have a store nearby, you should go check it out!

Happy Hunting...

I was in Benton Harbor MI Target today and picked up a Surge for $39 and change. Couldn't believe my luck. There was one left.

I passed up a Surge for $40 at Target because it was too large for me to EDC and bought a Juice S2 for about $20. Supplies are running low at the Target stores here.

Visited 6 Targets in the past 2 days, though I was actually searching for a particular flashlight instead of a multitool.

What is it about deal spotting not allowed that is so hard to understand.

Let me guess, a 2nd gen Inova X1?;)

Regards,

Nope. Already have one. :)

Some of the 1AA Energizer "tactical" flashlights are now fitted with a Cree LED, but my local Target stores still stock the old Luxeon version.

I was stoked to see that my local Target had alox Cadets in silver, green, and red. I got the green one after several minutes of intense determination. I've been wanting colored alox ever since I got my Soldier several months ago.

What's the problem, dude?

Yeh I don't see why "Deal Spotting" is a problem.

The way I see it is that we are just promoting our hobby even more by helping our fellow knifenut friends find good deals on knives.

I cant see why there would be any issues with that?

The problem is that this is Sparks house and Sparks rules!
This is copied from his rules, perhaps you ought to read them.

No deal spotting
Yes, we know you found a great price on the Ninja Disembowel 4000 at SuperPriceMART. We don't care. We'd prefer you support the dealers who support BladeForums.com.

As such, we don't allow deal spotting because otherwise the forums would be a quagmire of "deals" (real or imagined) posted everywhere, or unscrupulous people posting "deals" for non paying dealers. So don't do it.

Auction / Deal / Bargain Spotting
This is a variation of the "no spam" rules that we have. We know you found a great deal on a Ninja Death Tool 3000 - we don't care.

If that dealer wants to advertise on BladeForums.com, encourage them to purchase a Dealer membership here instead of giving them free advertising.

This infraction can be issued as a warning and is worth 10 points towards your total. It expires in 12 months.

First of all.It is a rule the owner of this forum (we are his guests here) has established. ;)

I think that is a good enough reason.

Second of all. I am not dude. :D

Second of all. I am not dude. :D

Can I save this for later, Gus? :D

Right now, I've got to get on down to Target for... uhmm... some cranberry juice. That's it. Cranberry juice. :p

No, it's not OK.

If we have a discussion going and someone asks about sources for all the gear, we put the thread in FEEDBACK (GBU) and we can suggest dealers.

But for anyone to pop up with a new thread whose only purpose is to say, look what I found! Go buy some! ... no. We are not an internet shopping guide, we are not a bulletin board for people pushing their businesses here.

If you want to advertise in a magazine, buy an ad. If you want to advertise on Bladeforums, buy a dealer membership.

I couldn't find any cranberry juice, at least the 100% juice kind. :( :grumpy:

In other news, the Leatherman Surge is one big mofo.

I've never seen any retail outlet sale-price its stock of name brand knives---perhaps you might be able to finding something like the Eddie Bauer or Winchester selection on sale at Target or Wal Mart occassionally, but I guess this is a unique time for the knife industry and the economy.

I found a great deal on a Victorinox Hiker/Garden Knife combo at a local retail story the other day---pricing for the sake of the conveyment without revealing the source is okay, I hope---for only $22. I believe I got the last one.

In regards to the "I am not dude," that made my day. I was at a Boy Scout meeting the other day and a young Tenderfoot referred to the Scoutmaster as dude. He deadpanned, "My name is not dude. It is John." A textbook response to any annoying modern day pronoun. :D

And yeah, I thought the Leatherman Surge is a huge knife---my dad started carrying one on his belt after he broke the tip off the blade of the old school Leatherman he used to carry. Despite the fact that I reground the blade with a nicer profile and a new tip, he still insists on carrying this much beefier model.

bought a surge for 27

The Surge was a great buy at $19.98, but has a few rough edges, both literally and figuratively.

When using the Surge's knives and file, the handle edges felt too sharp in my palm. I used a diamond file to ease the edges of the handles, making it a little more comfortable to hold.

When closed, the tip of my Surge's file interferes with the lanyard attachment point unless the latter is pushed out slightly.
