Just wondering why are u using the landyard on it?

Ok, moderators any or all:
Is deal spoting not ok anywhere on this forum? Or is there a place where it is ok. Like a subforum. Or only ok for the dealers who advertise here.
This is not a challenge. It's just a question to clear up deal spoting for all who comes here to Blade forums.
Don't want to break the rules, even accidently. I like it here.

Not OK anywhere but in the knife makers area where tools and equipment are discussed, but only items that pertain to the making of knives. Abuse in that sub forum will also get someone in trouble.

Thanks James Todd.
That's a straight forward and simple answer.
Any one breaking that rule deservs an infraction.
I know it's in the rules but,
maybe you should make your answer a sticky.

Actually already in the rules, copied and pasted from Sparks rules.

Auction / Deal / Bargain Spotting
This is a variation of the "no spam" rules that we have. We know you found a great deal on a Ninja Death Tool 3000 - we don't care.

If that dealer wants to advertise on BladeForums.com, encourage them to purchase a Dealer membership here instead of giving them free advertising.

This infraction can be issued as a warning and is worth 10 points towards your total. It expires in 12 months.

I do not think giving guys a heads up on a large retailer clearancing an item hurts anybody. It is not like Walmart or Target are going to buy a membership here or anywhere else for that matter. I do not see that this is any different than all the multi page Walmart clearance threads after the holidays on the Buck Knives forum (where I usually hang out). I have gotten good deals several times from a heads up posted on a forum. I think there is a big difference between somebody hawking or promoting a dealer, versus giving info to help members find good deals at a national retailer where almost everybody has access to their local store. And to the poster that poo pooed the idea that national chains do not clearance brand name knives, you must not get out much. I have gotten Bucks, Victorinox, Gerbers, Leathermans, etc. at great prices from Walmart when they do their periodic remix of their knives inventory. I have no problem with house rules, but I question whether this is really a violation of the posted rules?

It is a violation of house rules. James Todd posted both references against deal-spotting from the FAQ, which is on the dark bar at the top of each page. It's a good idea to read through the FAQ anyway.

The real problem is that Bladeforums is big enough that if we were to allow this, we would have a steady stream of announcements. Also, people do tend to post them in the discussion or manufacturer forums closest to the product. All our sales are restricted to the Exchange forums, where we can monitor them more effectively.

No deal spotting

Yes, we know you found a great price on the Ninja Disembowel 4000 at SuperPriceMART. We don't care. We'd prefer you support the dealers who support BladeForums.com.

As such, we don't allow deal spotting because otherwise the forums would be a quagmire of "deals" (real or imagined) posted everywhere, or unscrupulous people posting "deals" for non paying dealers. So don't do it.
