I purchased this USS Ranger Carrier Ship knife from the American Fighting Ship knife series. The knife was commissioned by knifemaker Percy Richardson of Lone Star Knives as an SFO with Great American Cutlery.
I reached out to the Bladeforum community to see if the knife had sentimental value for veterans. The feedback was very helpful. Feedback ranged from using the knife as a military tool to keeping it as a collector’s item. I decided that the Damascus blade is too nice for everyday use. The knife was only carried few times and was not used to cut anything.
I learned that the USS Ranger Carrier Ship served from 1957 – 1993 and was active during the Vietnam – Gulf wars. The blade is constructed using a Wave Pattern Damascus forged from the steel of historic retired US Naval Battleships. The SFO run consisted of 269 knives, 206 with a Damascus blade, and 51 with teak wood handles. I believe the handles on this knife is either teak wood opposed to dark pine.
$SOLD. I will ship via US priority mail and add provide the tracking number.
