NOZYK....that is a stunning building !... As i am a carpenter and from Ukrainian parents ,that beautiful Church is a must see for me...Thank you for showing this... FES

I don't know why, but I've been getting big folders lately. This one is 4.5" and that was totally unexpected. I normally like my pocket knives about an inch shorter than that. I can't honestly say I paid any attention to the size when I first saw it, it was the blade combo that bit me. Still this has promise to be a good blade for long walks in the woods.

Here's a photo I snapped of the porch last week, of the first really nice evenings we've had in 6 months.

And last, here's one of my favorite places; the sea-horse fountain in the Domplatz in Salzburg.

Nice pic, Eismann! thanks for sharing this nice pic of Salzburg - it´s just 60 km and about 40 minutes drive from my doorstep to Salzburg center. :)

The old Salzburg center and city parts are just amazing places. I´ve been there pretty often ;)

I wanted to enter this contest, but it is difficult since I am far away from my favorite places, which are in the mountains of southwestern Montana where I grew up. Nevertheless, I have found some new favorite places here in my new(ish) home, Kentucky, which is blessed with its own natural beauty. I'll give a little narrative and then the entries.

This place makes a wonderful and beautiful hike/walk with the dog and kids, and I managed to get out there just as spring was springing, but before the trees budded. What's remarkable is that a place of such serenity and natural beauty was also the site of a terrible battle in the US Civil War--this is the Perryville Battlefield, outside of Perryville, KY. It was a pivotal battle in the area, not least because of Ketucky's neutrality (we are the Switzerland of the Civil War). I'll share some of the views I took along the way.

Beautiful place. And my two entries:

Cheers,
Daniel

Beautiful submissions everyone. This contest will be closing on Memorial Day. Please get in any entries before then. This is the nicest 73 I own. Don't miss the chance.

Kevin

thanks for the contest, here are some images from the region in south germany where I work. This is an island in a lake, formerly owned by aristocrat garden enthusiasts. I'm not sure if I have a favourite place in the world, but I try to appreciate the good things wherever I am.

Sorry for neglecting this thread Kevin, it's a very generous giveaway with an absolutely stunning prize. I'm sure one of our friends is going to be very happy. This is not an entry, but I'll post a pic anyway. I have used this pic before and it's my computer screen-saver. The knife is the 2011 Bladeforums knife given to me by Duncan, so every morning when I turn on my computer I'm minded of our pal over there in New Zealand, and just seeing the knife brings a smile to my face, even if I'm not carrying what I think is probably now my favourite knife. The picture is taken at a place called Jackdaw Crag on Yorkshire's River Wharfe, it's a lovely place, but my real favourite places are my old climbing haunts, a little further away in the Derbyshire Peak District. Now that the longer days are here, hopefully I'll get to visit some of them soon. Thanks for all you bring to this forum Kevin, and good luck to all the entrants, it's wonderful to see all your photographs.

Jack

Here is a favorite spot of mine. My late grandfather took me fishing here for Brook trout. This is on our family land in northern WI. He has been gone quite a few years now but I still fish it with my father and my son. One day when my son is older (he is 8) I'll tell him how special this spot is and then he will understand.

A favorite knife over another trout hole.

Sometimes places become special because of the people you share them with. Here are the kids after building our new fort.

Hunter, great pictures of the stream and family. I'm sure they will remember spending time with you just as you remember time with your grandfather. I too, love small stream fishing for brook trout, especially with people special to you.

Thank you to everyone for posting up such nice photos and the thoughts to accompany them.

One last bump before this one closes Memorial Day :)

Kevin

Thanks for the great giveaway!

Xxxxx Lake in Washington State is one of my very favorite places to go in the spring to get away and to do some catch-and-release fly-fishing. We camp for a week or more and enjoy the solitude, scenery and fishing. My wife took this photo of me releasing a trout:

These are the knives I carried daily, photo taken at the lake:

The area is remote and extremely beautiful. The lake sits in a little valley between two of the most rugged mountain ridges you could imagine. Nearly vertical cliffs studded with pine trees and rock falls dominate the view; eagles, bighorn sheep, mule deer, bear, and even wolves roam the area nowadays. You hear grouse drumming and the call of loons along with a spectacular variety of birds singing everywhere. It is just incredible.

The valley and our camp:

Without a doubt my favorite spot. Being next to my daughter hanging out in my hammock.

I'd love to have a shot at the knife, but I am unable to make the trip to my favorite spot for photos. So, I will have to pass on this give away, but it is really great to see everyone's knives and favorite places.
