Great Eastern Cutlery Whittler

Good Lord! A three backspring whittler from GEC? Thing's going to be like a tank! Is it built on the #53/#54 frame?

I sure hope they make those in bone or stag. Those colors make me queezy.

Same frame as the cubans / harness jacks. Natural handles will be coming after the holidays.

Looks like another nice one from GEC!

Good to see you posting here Mike.

Thanks for the pics, Mike - especially the top/bottom ones. I'll be getting one of these once the natural materials come on board.

thx - cpr

Nice! I'll be picking one of those up, for sure. Interesting that it has the old Tidioute shield instead of the "hourglass".

I need to know more about the new #36 pattern. Anyone have any scuttlebutt about that one?

Strictly speaking, they are not whittlers. More like 3 spring cattle knives. But beautiful and desireable nonetheless!
I too will be looking for a bone or stag handled one!

Some of their acrylics are really interesting but not these two in my opinion. However, the knife will look excellent in some of their bone or stag variants.I'm also interested in whether they will retain the older Tidioute shield of the new 'corset' one for other handles.

The knife is too large for my taste but I'm convinced the build will be excellent, I'm really pleased with my 3.75" Scout and Liner lock and the Barlow is wonderful. Now I'm dreaming of them making a smaller Teardrop or a single blade Slimline Trapper or Utility style.Would be nice to see some better stainless on offer too for a change. This is a really good company with a lot of appealing knives.

Nice.
I'd call it a stockman with a better(IMO) blade configuration; all being long blades.

Hey Mike, any word on whether GEC will be doing any more in SS?
I figure short of contacting GEC directly, you guys that are dealers should know..

G.

The best thing you could do would be to contact them and complain about the lack of SS.

When they made stainless we couldn't sell them; thus I don't expect they are chomping at the bits to make a slew of stainless knives to put on the shelves.

I was going thru production coming over the next couple of months with Chris and she mentioned a couple of stainless, but seems like they were patterns that are already available in SS (trappers, cubans).

Up until now, they had to have someone else punch their stainless for them and that increased the cost a little on it. I think before long they will have that functionality themselves.

Hope that helps.
