Great EDC: Benchmade 940 Osborne

Dear MFL,

I believe it's a choice you will never regret. It is surprising what a difference in handling the not-so-slight reduction in weight caused by the use of CF makes in the handling of this design. I have a 940 with standard aluminum handles and the 940-1 with CF handles. I just weighed them:

940 Aluminum: 81 g

940-1 Carbon Fibre: 68 g

I've had and sold several versions of the 940 series over the years. I wish I had em all back. This knife just fits the bill. Here are my current 940's



 
Recently traded for an old 943 with a 154cm-blade where one of the previous owners had replaced the thumb stud and pocket clip aswell as taken the handle down to bare metal. Thanks to Benchmades great CS I now have an original thumb stud and pocket clip and I just love the thing. Light, slim, elegant and quite a lot of blade for a very little package. Very happy.

I've avoided this thread because it was making me miss my 940 so bad. But I just made a deal for this guy and will have it next week. So stoked!
 
I got my 940 cf today and carried it instead of my 890bk and it is a great edc knife. When wearing light shorts it just works great doesn't feel like it's pulling your shorts down cause it's so light.
 
I had purchased a pre-owned 940 several months ago. Sold it to a guy who later said he didn't like it, so he sent it back to me. Best move ever. Even though I don't carry my 940, I missed it the day I put it in the mailbox. So glad it ended how it did and I still have a 940 that I'm happy with.

Just got a 943 at Blade but on the fence about keeping it. The Mini grippy I carry but the 530 is my main EDC.....Would like a nylon or carbon handle over the aluminum one. Like all BM, very nice.
 
Just remembered the discussion about center balance point of 940 vs 940-1, so here it is.

It did move toward the tip of the blade, about 1/8". Here is the picture where the red line indicates where the knife balances.
