hey guys im looking for a pretty large EDC. I have the Kershaw needs work and i really like it but im looking for something fast, strong, and sharp. id like it to be under 40$ and have good serrations any ideas? thanks.

I'll second the RAT-1. Really great AUS-8 blade for for the money, rock solid lockup and a well respected perigee. I believe they used to be more expensive, but you can pick them up for around 30$ everywhere i've seen them on the internet, which is a total steal in my opinion. Its on the larger size too.

haha thanks guys i love that knife one of my friends owns it and ya its a great knife for the money. but i don't really want the same knife as him so anything else? thanks.

thrash96 yes you are but i still love that knife. ya i kinda like the tenacious but ive been looking at the spyderco persistence or the spyderco ambitious. any thoughts on those. are they worth the money and they good EDCs? thanks.

In addition to the tenacious and ambitious there is also the larger resilience. IMO imported Spydercos offer a great deal of knife for little money.

you originally said that you were looking for pretty large EDC. the tenacious would be the best choice of the bunch for a pretty large EDC IMO.

here is a pic of that whole family line from spyderco:
from top to bottom: resilience, tenacious, persistence, ambitious.

My only beef with the tenacious is that mine personally came with a terrible deployment and my friends resilience has great deployment must just be mine but who knows.. Ps the bushings are terrible no matter what anyone else thinks

Not really what you were asking for but for another ten bucks you could get a leatherman wave. I bought the pocket clip for mine and I love it for EDC. Its great to have both a straight and serrated blade. It is a bit heavy though (good fist packer though ;) ). I never really carried it until I got the pocket clip for it and now I couldn't imagine not. I use the non knife parts of it more than the knife, but its nice not abusing a knife blade when that's all you got on you.

ginaz would you recommend the large rather than the med. plus is that the tri ad lock and is it as strong as on the cold steel videos? thanks.

These are all great choices! Personally I support the Tenacious (full serrations). I am about to get a Rat-1 myself after hearing all the good reviews about this knife that is at such a great price, plus they are not longer being made, so grab one while you can! Both should run around $30. If you want the new black bladed tenacious, it will be a few more dollars (~$45). I would also recommend the G10 Byrd Crossbill (fully serrated); it is a great size, very comfortable to hold, solid lock up and damn cool looking.
