I have dealt with roadsideimports and regardless of the differing opinions I find the company to be legitimate. I have ordered from them before and they ship in a timely manner.
I really like his short article on the origins of the switchblade knife and how it was designed to cut lines in an emergency while out at sea thus preventing overturning of boats and saving lives.
He points out the fact that Hollywood promoted the gangster image that eventually led to auto openers being banned. Legislation determined by Hollywood this in going to be history someday.
People are going look back at this era as one of ignorance and silly irrational fears.
I do agree with a lot of his views and some of them I don't. Benchmade knives are by no means junk, they are top quality but this is by no means the first I have heard concerning Benchmade flexing it's large corporate muscle to bully smaller businesses into compliance.
I also do not care for anyone who supports allowing cops to ban drugs that are needed to treat people who have horrible painful diseases. Determining who needs those drugs is a the job of a Doctor not a policeman.
I happen to have a friend who is suffering terribly from MS. He cannot use Marijaunna because his conditions of parole require he be urine tested after he was arrested for guess what Pot. While he was getting high he never knew he even had MS. It was determined he had MS for some time after being examined in jail.
If Benchmade got involved in this then I say they have no business doing so. If they like their police clients so much to the point that they will actively support them even if they are wrong then maybe Benchmade should see how they would fair if law enforcement becomes their only clientele.
I hope this gets resolved because I love Benchmade knives.

JB is a wonderful guy who is true to the core. He is an asshole when you mess with him but his products and shipping are top of the line. I purchase many items on a regular scale from JB. I trade with him, buy wholesale from him, and regular stuff off him. He is one of the best in business that gets given a hard time when there is no need. Thanks to JB thou I will NEVER own a Benchmade product. The way they have attacked him, bladeplay, and others they will never see my hard earned cash. So, for all you who dislike JB it can be said everyone has an opinion. I have and will continue to support roadsideimports.com assistedknife.com and all his other sites. :thumbup:

I'm a nitpicky person and yet, every time he has answered my e-mails in 24 hours, usually within few. Always helpful and friendly. Terrific customer service, even for people like me.
His site is actually the first place I check if looking for a particular knife.

His item descriptions are BS. i purchased an airbourne thrasher version 1, 6 months ago and it was fine until the thread on the glass breaker got stripped so i decided to buy the airbourne avenger from him and the spring was kinda weak. It wouldnt retract fully and failed to deploy sometimes. basically useless and had a cheap feel to it so i asked him to take it back and he did but i think it was only cuz i told him i'd rather have another thrasher version 2. So i ordered the thrasher version 2 and the spring seemed weak also. It wouldn't fully retract and lock in the closed position. He sells replacement parts for these otf's and claims they are american-made and uses descriptions like "pure power". He says that the knife will spring into action and lock with no problems at all but when i got the springs and sears, it was just the opposite. They were weaker than the original springs. the knife wouldn't deploy or retract at all. I emailed him about taking them back and issuing me a refund even though his policy is "no returns" cuz he states on the same page that he's also not an ass&%#! about things and can admit when he's wrong. He decided to ignore my emails at that point and not respond at all anymore.So beware, i wouldn't buy from anyone without doing a search online about website reviews. He seems to have had problems with other customers out there too. I had to learn the hard way, i wish i had spent the money on a more expensive knife like a microtech than half the money on 2 knives that will probably fail me when i need them the most. I dont' see how people can expect to run a legitimate business successfully when they completely lie to customers in their item descriptions.
JB is a wonderful guy alright.........Til he screws YOU over.

The only business I've had with RSI has been negative. I emailed the owner with questions regarding some of their non-metallic knives regarding material properties and strength, whatnot, wanting to know if they were quality jobs. I got back an email that was plain insulting. I will never do business with that company because of the way I was treated.
I did business with this clown. ordered some crap and got what i ordered. I never spend a lot of money on first orders. The order came. the ordered items were crap (which i figured they would be) BUT. this joker is a really ignorant individual to the point I will never order from there again! I will pay twice the price for something from somewhere else as long as the person I am dealing with has some class which RSI's JB does not. Its not "you have to know how to take him" type of crap. You are buying from him and he should be more polite and professional. NEVER again! Save yourselves the headaches. If you want treated like crap then get married or something but dont put up with it from this idiot
I did not do a crap test order on some crappy auto knife (Lets face it they blow beyond any recognition). I went medium range with an AKC Concord for me and my buddy. I was very impressed with the quality and they were not reproductions like i heard someone else posting elsewhere. I am very familiar with AKC, Mikov, and Frank Beltrame series knives as that is what my collection consists of.
I can open my Cold Steel Ti-Lite faster than any switchblade so i get kinda pissed at our options up here. (BTW The Cold Steel Ti-Lite is the Sharpest,Strongest, best carry all knife i have ever owned.) Sadly in Canada an Auto Knife is harder to get than a Glock...go figure like wtf!?
Not all people are webdesigners like me, and just whip up a .php based multi coded website that the average person would buy for 12 grand. What i like is the selection on his website. LOL and quite honestly being a scotsman/canadian i dont mind the flag in his logo at all. I actually like it!
I enjoyed the videos. I could see a demo on the knife i wanted to purchase (I have seen this on other sites), but then i browsed his youtube channel there are many more videos, and i found that assistedknives.com shows step by step videos on how to put together your switchblade or otf kits. This gave me the knowledge to take apart my knife, replace parts,service it when it breaks, and of course put parts together as they arrive in Canada into a finished product. This is where i think assistedknives.com excels. I dont see anyone else going quite as far as this online.
I will be placing my 3rd order, and recommend his international services from my experience up here in Canada.
As for a warning...there is cheap shit, and there is quality items at any online automatic knife dealer. Expect a breakable toy if you buy the cheap shit. Go mid grade if you want a knife, and buy the best if you are a collector.
