...on a villager.
Just got the: "16 inch 25 ounce villager Ganga Ram special by Bura. Himalayan walnut wood handle. Awesome blade. $85 YBB." from the 1/11 DOTD. There should have been some +++++ after this one.
The sheath has the nicest, tightest fit of any khukuri I have. It's a traditional bolster and the blade sits in perfectly snug right up to the bolster.
The bolster is nice and small, and fits perfectly at both the handle and blade. The Blade itself is villager-like in that it's unbuffed, but the markings are all regular, smooth and even. So much so on one side, that it looks like a perfectly designed pattern, while the other side is symmetrical except for a slight distortion of the pattern near the cho. The cho is crisply and cleanly cut. All of the script is devangali.
The handle is thick, but not the bulbous, too-thick, barrel shape. Enough to fill the hand comfortably but not distort the grip. Great fit to the bolster and endcap and nice grain to the wood. The only flaws in the whole thing are a couple small, fillable, nicks in the handle.
