So I've been looking for a large high value knife for +/- $100. Im extremely interested in the SOG vulcan. I'm also considering a G10 police, G10 Endura, or anything else you guys can suggest. Thanks!

I recently got the Buck Folding Kalinga Pro with rosewood handle (scales on a brass frame) and S30V blade. It's a great knife, but has been recently dropped from Buck's catalog and website. You can still find new ones online and at shops for about $90. - $100. Get one now while they're still around and not super expensive.

Kershaw g10 tyrade $80-90... Zero Tolerance 350 $100... And I second the Spyderco Manix 2

Large you say? Christmas was lovely Roger had the BM LFK on sale for $50, no super steel or cool handle materials, just a couple hunks of aluminum and a great sized hunk of 440... with tail fin :D

A couple of months ago I got my friend, who likes BIG knives, a Ken Warner folder. It's huge - costs about sixty or so bucks and my pal has been using it a lot and liking it a lot. I forget the name - BGG or something but a search under Ken's name should turn it up. Found it: www.kenwarnerknives.com

The Buck 419 has a 3.88" S30V blade and weighs 7.7 oz - and was eagerly awaited here back in late '07 when it and it's fb larger sibling, the 4.88" also S30V 408, arrived. Still nice - grab one if you can. Also, a Buck's Custom Shop 110 in S30V with nickel silver bolsters, walnut scales - with or without pins/and/or finger grooves - would take from weeks to a couple months - and run <$100 - for a custom made knife! Check the Buck site for 'build your own' info. The 110 is a 3.75" classic bladed lockback, weighing ~7.2 oz.

The Kershaw 1725CB JYDII - with it's D2 edge - is a moose of a liner-locked flipper. It's 3.75" composite blade is as functional as it is neat looking - and weighs but 5.2 oz with it's G-10 scales. The 1820 Needs Work, particularly the G-10 handled limited edition like I lucked into, only has a 3" Wharncliffe-style straight edge, but it cuts 'bigger', if that makes sense. I have been impressed with it, my first Sandvik 14C28N blade, especially it's edge retention.

Both great choices in a big -n-beefy folder!

A forumite on here was selling Spartans for 40 bucks. You will not find a better deal than that anywhere imho. It is also a big ass strong folder. keepem sharp

Benchmade HK14205 for $110-115 online:

Being the devout Spyder-head that I am it's little surprise that I'm recommending the C-36 Spyderco Military model, The G-10 Police model and the ZDP-189 Endura. You just couldn't go wrong with any of those 3.

However I'm not totally predjudiced to only one company. The Benchmade Rukus model has always appealed to my love of that particular blade design.

The Spyderco Chinook III is also a tank of a folder and deserves serious consideration.

The G-10 Tyrades are very nice knives with a unique composite blade, plus a flipper and AO. Limited production runs in 3 colors (orange, black, and tan). A steal at $70 to $80.

I like my orange Tyrade more than my orange Mille just because of the flipper and AO.

And personally I'd consider getting any Benchmade, Spyderco, Buck or Kershaw in that price range before a SOG. I think they offer more value for the money IMO.

Buck 110 is great. Or, if you want more tactical look at their new collaboration with TOPS in the CSAR they are now making.

Zero Tolerance 0350... awesome knife... not that large, but feels strong.. if it is too small go with the 0200..
