Great Survival Movie, Jerimiah Johnson

From what I've read, Del Gue was a lot calmer than he was portrayed in the movie. One of my favorite quotes of his

"Can't say that I've seen anyone pass in front of me, not sure about behind me."

I'm dating myself here...I saw the movie in the theater when it was released - 3 times with a buddy. Then he and I went out and bought us a 50 cal Hawkin gun. Still have it! I've shot the snot out of that rifle..shot it in Mtn Man competitions and just hunting deer/elk/bear with it four weeks ago. Been doing primative mtn man camping since.

The Movie is on again now and I’m watching it for the third time this week.

It’s always great viewing.

My lovely wife is part American Indian, so JJ and I have something in common.

The snow is falling outside, and as soon as the movie’s over I’m headed out to the woods to hunt some Grizz,

...well OK, maybe just trap some Beaver!

In case you didn't know, Larry Dean Olsen (wrote Outdoor Survival Skills) consulted on the movie. If you ever go to Sundance, they got some neat pictures of the movie being made. Portions of the movie were also filmed there at Sundance.

I've swear, I must have watched it dern near everytime it's been on since it first aired on TV when I was just a kid. Funny thing is that I recieved it on DVD as a gift from my squaw several yrs ago, yet I continue to watch it everytime it airs on the tube.

HAHA, it's not just me!!

I've owned it on VHS, then DVD, and still get caught up and watch it on TV. :D

What do ya play the dvd on?:D

What do ya hook the player up to?;)

I have 2 TV sets. With no cable hookup, I've got no television program reception. I also have a portable DVD player, so I can watch a movie right next to my computer monitor, and compare you guys to Jeremiah Johnson, or Leonidas, or Jurassic Park. :D

My daughter insisted that I record it on our DVR. She first saw it at school and loved it. Maybe there is hope for her yet!!

Reminds me off my Mother and her Boyfriend, except they have a computer but use it as a door stop,(technology like that accordin' to her just lets the goverment in on yer business, and the TV is an old console that's used to support the family pictures and the phone.:), she hasn't watched TV in 25 years except if she was in a friends house that had one on.

I did 3 stints without TV one in the early 80s for 3 years when I lived in a 157 year old farm house, along with electricities no indoor plumbin' or furnace, (just coal wood burners in the main rooms, had to pull water from the well by bucket, heat up water to bathe, and use an outhouse for, well you know...

Late 80s we moved up to a cabin in PA in the back of my Mothers junkyard, same set up that was two years, did lots of readin' and hobbies, that was two years, my friends all said my wife was a Saint durin' those.

Last year my cable bill got outta control and we had the cable turned off for 3 months, we all survived.

I learned early on in my marrige, 1) I have a terrific wife and 2) so long as I have my family I need very little else, ('cept maybe my knives;)) to get through life.

I like the nice things in life but I can get by without, I remember cryin' the first time I turn on the light in our current home and my wife sobbin' when she flushed the toile and had her first shower.:D

A lot of necessities are really just conveniences. Some of them are only habits. I avoid TV because it annoys me more than it entertains me, but I have no objection to good programming. Unfortunately, that comes with too much interruption.
