Great Warranty from DMT Sharpeners

Normally, if I feel I've gotten my money's worth out of a product, I don't fall pursue a company's warranty/guarantee.

I bought a DMT ceramic steel around a year ago and I went to clean it with some scouring powder the other day. What I thought was steel residue was the underlying steel and the ceramic had come off in places where a knife was honed against it.

I was a little disappointed but I figure it's past a year so I must have gotten my money's worth. But I went ahead and called the vendor I bought from who said they only have a 90 day return policy. However, he did suggest i contact DMT. I called and asked to be connected to either customer service or warranty. The operator asked what it was about.

I stated the situation exactly as what I said in the two sentences in my second paragraph above. And just like that, she asked for my email address so she can send a return package for replacement. No hem or haw on her part. No "let me talk to my manager." No having me do a song and dance or feigned indignation.

Great company with great products. I have their whole line of DMT 8" diamond stones and also their diafolds. And, now, I'm a fan of the company.

Thanks for posting Rey!
It's so refreshing reading the good........we have plenty of the bad & ugly!

I've been looking to buy a couple of Diafold sharpeners, they seem to be a good alternative to stones for fast touch ups. This makes me feel better about buying them. Thanks.

I've used DMT for the last 30+ years. Bought a DMT blue (coarse) pocket stone in 1984 and use it as my coarse stone to this day. Problems with their products are uncommon. They do stand behind their products.

If you do have a problem with DMT I suggest a phone call. They didn't respond to my emails and I never asked if they got them or not but I sent an email and got no response . However a phone call to them will get you squared away.

That's not really a negative, maybe they lIke to do business the old fashion way. Just a reminder or advice if anyone needs their customer service.

FWIW I have all the 8x3 plates and 2 double sided 2x6 plates . Have had them both for about 5 to 6 years now and all are better than new IMHO. I did wear out an XC 2x6 on an edge pro but that's 100% my fault and I would not ask DMT to do anything about it .
