Knife Repairs: 2 in a row

Right on! to the folks at Lynnwood, WA; SOG, if you please. Got a Stingray awhile back, did something (I still don’t know what) and ended up with some ugly, malformed kraton. That turned me off of kraton forever, even though before the kraton tubed, it provided some nice grippiness. So, after explaining all of this to the SOG folks in a note, I fired it off to Lynnwood via USPS on 040904. Got it back 4/23 UPS 2nd day air. New slabs, sharpened, beautiful clean up and polish job, all on SOG! Still not going to buy any more kraton handled steel, but hey, what more can you ask for from a manufacturer. Another manufacturer has two of my knives; one sent same day as Stingray, other 032704. Did receive acknowledgements knives arrived. Waiting for my steel to return, quite anxiously, actually, because I really do like the knives being looked at for repair/replacement; they’re EDC number 2 and 3. First class job, SOG. Thank you.

Did you ever use a bug repellent while carrying the SOG? I think that's what turned my Sogwinder's scales into sticky black crud. Kraton doesn't get along well with DEET at all.

It's a shame, I really like some of the SOG offerings but I won't buy them due to the kraton. Maybe I'll get a cocobolo Tomcat though... :)

Glad to see the good review, I'll make sure it gets passed on! :D

TorzJohnson, not ALL of the SOGs have Kraton... ;)
