Great pics Tony! looks like an awesome area! I love exploring old "ruins" like those when I run across them here. One of the areas I used to go hiking in was covered with mine openings and vent shafts...now it's all covered with kudzu.

I can't believe you didn't make another spindle...you sure you didn't just figure out it was the wrong wood and then just threw it in the creek ?

Not my style. Lord knows I have failed do to poor wood selection, but this was just a laziness thing. I took enough wood back home with me to give it a shot, maybe tomorrow...
