Greatest knife loss story

I've lost a few and had a lot more stolen. When I lost my favorite Benchmade (a 640 Mini-Spike I had carried for seven years) I thought, "Well, I got my use out of it. I'll just buy another one." Then I found out they had been discontinued for about five years. It took me a year to find one.

I lost a Benchmade mini-AFCK once and I hated that but later on I lost a 1999 model Emerson Commander. I really hated that. I had only gone one place all that day so I went back there and asked about it. Of course, no one knew anything about it. :(
I did get another Commander later but I surely hated losing the first one.

here's mine(I still get a little sad!):

My family and I were out on the Missouri river enjoying a day in the boat. We were all getting hungry so my mom decided to make us all some sandwiches. She pulled a pack of lunch meat out of the cooler and was trying to open it with her teeth so I warily offered up my very first Swiss Army knife (don't remember the model, but it had alot of attachments) that I had just gotten a few months earlier for my 8th or 9th birthday. Just as she got the package of lunch meat open a wave from a passing boat rocked us a little and my mom lost her balance and as she grabbed the edge of the boat to keep from falling into the river my knife slipped out of her hand and plopped into the muddy water. I saw it happening almost in slow motion, but by the time I could react it was gone. Needless to say, that was not my favorite boating trip!

Thankfully, I haven't lost a knife with real sentimental value to me (can't replace those with money). But I have lost other types of keepsakes and can relate to the feeling of loss mentioned by others. - - I did lose my first Spyderco - a SpyderCard which I bought about 8 years ago. Looked all over through lots of boxes over a long period and finally found it last week :)

My buddy Fed lost a D. Dwyer Custom after leaving Blade show a couple years back.
We were packing up the van to head home after the show and he left it on top of the Van. He was going to grab it and keep it with him during the trip to fondle. Duane gave it to him at the show. He was some kind of miserable about that. He still dont like to talk about it. Somewhere between Atlanta and Jackson Miss. is a nice custom knife.

Take care
