Greatest KO/Kershaw collab ever

Yeah just a little. This knife is the equivalent of a custom bolstered Emerson IMO. The blades were hand ground by KO and Tom Mayo IIRC. Then, everything was hand fitted. The run was cut short with the number produced in the low 200's. Tracking these down is a matter of luck. Basically, you check the bay regularly and hope that luck will be on your side.

Don't quote me on any of those facts. I could very well be wrong. ;) But, these are the nicest knife of the Onion/Kershaw era.

I guess I'll have to start looking for my next Kershaw Holy Grail. Darn it, I thought I was done when I got my Random Task.

Me too:thumbup:

The highest quality production knife I have ever handled. I suppose that makes sense b/c they are basically midtechs.

I'm still thinking about buffing the writing off the blade on mine .

You guys act like I am committing a mortal sin of some kind, like maybe cheating on the family, God forbid. I said I was thinking about it, I saw one done once and it was sweet !! If it's gonna bother you guys , I won't do it !! :D:D:D

No Dave. It's OK...really!

Keep thinking about buffing the logo off, and then decide Naw, I think I'll offer it to DV for (insert the proper amount of $ here). :D

I don't mind. After having mine for a while I tend to agree with you and if I thought I could get Ken Onion to do the refinish I would. I just want another one :D

Dave, you're not the only one that doesn't like the etching. I found quote from 2003 on BritishBlades forums:

"I opened the box to find.............................................. ...................
not a handmade Ken Onion Random Task, but a Kershaw 25th anniversary knife (50/500) with hideous blade etching even saying 'Kershaw 25th anniversary'. Dissapointment can't describe what I felt."

To be fair he was expecting an actual Ken Onion Random Task for £388.00 (around $600), so that might have colored his opinion.

Wasn't the Whisper designed by KO? Not that I find it to be the best design, but I thought it would get mentioned, at least.

My fave: Blue Ti Bump with a Kreined blade.

Second: Tyrade

KO Shun 8" Chefs knife deserves some recognition, as well.
