I have noticed that there are not many discussions about custom knifes that include
Greco knifes. I have several and really like each one. I did a search and only found a few threads about his work and was just wondering if anybody else likes them as well as I do.

I carry my Greco Persian daily, and I like it, especially when I consider what I paid for it.
I got my money's worth several times over.
I think John Greco makes the best $100 knife in the world.
I know of some other, more expensive knives I would like to have, and therein lies my point.
I didn't want to spend the money.

I have only seen one picture in I think Tactical Knives Mag. and it looked interesting.

Could someone send me some pictures?

David

David1967, I do not have a scanner (I hope to have soon) to send pictures. If you have a fax I can send you a current brochure.

I second Ken's opinions. Greco gives the most knife I've seen for $100.

Got to meet John this year for the first time. Admitting it is not my area of interest (does not mean I do not appreciate the style or work), and more than agreeing with Les that many of today's buyers of his style of knives will be tomorrow's supporters of Custom knives of all types (I bet a lot of us started that way), it seems like quite a bit of work from a good guy goes into those 100.00 dollar knives. If I needed another user (read ready for abuse), I would without a doubt have strong considerations for a Greco as well as a few others.

Hello Mr. Kalanzis
I am glad you got to meet Mr. Greco, I met him at a knife show here in Alabama and I was really impressed with his work and him as an individual. I also met his wife Sherry and she is making all the leather goods to compliment his knives. He is a real character
once tou get to know him. I have talked to him several over the phone and he recently invited us up to visit, he lives in Kentucky
and I told him I would really like to watch him turn metal into really nice knives. His reply was "watch? I'll put you to work"
I am going to take him up on this after the first of the year. I am really looking forward to it. Thanks for the positive comments on John's work, for us working folks he makes a quality product that I can afford.
By the way have you seen his small camp hatchet? He makes a few a year and they are excellent.

My FAX # is 011 420 656 841117 dialed from USA. Do you think they (Greco Knives) would send me the brochure? Do they have e-mail?

David

They currently are not on the internet. They will be more than happy to send you a brochure. There address is:

David, what part of the world are you located?

I purchased my first Greco knife in 1992, and have since added at least 7 others to my collection. He makes and excellent knife for the money. I just wish he would go back to producing some of his more colorful patterns of several years back. Don't get me wrong his black on black tacticals are very solid knives (at last check I had the tanto, 2x mod 5, and a Persian). But, he also use to make some really good stuff featuring stag handles, cable domascus blades, and excellent leather sheaths.

Well I guess there is still hope; even Ontario is starting produce something more colorful than their Spec Plus line. This is definitely one maker that I intend to keep an eye on.

Sorry about the wrong area code, my home area code is 205. I am not much of a typist, I use the old hunt and peck method and sometimes my brain says one thing while my fingers type another. Thanks for the correction.

I just got a Clip Tip Fighter from Hammerhead last night. I think it's a great knife, especially for the price. Is it perfect? No. Are other, higher price knives perfect? No. I'm not a hard core user, but I believe this one will stand up to anything I throw at it. I think Greco needs a little more exposure.

He does a good job and his heat treat is very good But they way to thick for me.

But then again I just bought Two more at the MTV knife show. I couldn't resist these those they were on sell. They were they last of a run, he doesn't plan on making anymore of these. The cost was $30per with sheath. Heck blade blanks at any of the supplers would cost more.

Sherry Greco just returned my call.

I wanted to get my Persian refinished and two new sheaths.

$12.50 for the refinishing and $8 for each sheath.

What a deal.

John has a very efficient operation and makes the most of his time.
He should write an essay sometime about how he organizes his work.

Sherry told me John has some of his designs in 3/16's now, for those who want a thinner knife.
He has also gone over the $100 mark with one of his offerings.
Still, he offers a lot of bullet-proof designs right at $100.

I'll let you know how the refinishing came out in a few weeks.

Hello all to those have replied in the Greco Forum. I am pleased that everyone has had a positive experience with Greco Knives. I still think for the money they are hard to beat and I hope everbody gets to meet John and Sherry to see what kind of people are behind their product.

Sorry, I didn't know there was a Greco forum. But, I'm glad I saw this post (after I asked a question under blade review). Does anyone have any experience with his "Champion"?
