Any of you guys use a Greco La Duena?
How does it fare as a machete?

What is it's forte?

Thanks
Rog

Thanks Jeff, but where I live that issue won't be out for a while. Can you give me any more details?

May is the current issue that should be hitting the stands within the week. Subscribers are already receiving their copies

Will try to detail more about it when I have the time. In a hurry right now....

Shootist,
Also, for some big usefull knives, look at Bill Siegle's work. I just got one of his combat machetes and it is a beauty(for a user) 1/4" Stock and razor sharp. G10 slabs and kydex sheath with Tech-Lock. Did quite a number on a neighbors oak tree that he was bringing down.
You can find a link to his site by looking for any posting from Marion David Poff. Has a live link on his sig.

If this is the blade :

A number of things leap out. First off of the handle looks really insecure and would lead to impacts off the talons which look squarish. Secondly a more forward grip is problematic because there is nothing to prevent your finger from contacting the edge.

Consider this, which is a similar blade, the PAB from Strider :

It has neither of the above problems, and as well has a more pronounced curvature to help in heavy chopping, slicing, and puch cutting using a rocking motion, and as well as an angled handle/blade to increase power on heavy work.

For those kinds of prices though, you might be able to get a custom design with a convex profile that would give higher performance both in terms of penetration as well as a much lower tendancy to bind, and an overall greater durability.

The Brute by Camillus is another similar knife.
