I got some dark green rit dye added a little dark brown and dyed some micarta. I heated it up and put the micarta in for 5 mins at a time until I liked how it looked. The full sized ones had been used some and were darker to start with, but the 17 looks great much better in hand than the picture. As others have said the micarta is a great addition to the knives and I put it on as many as I can.

Those look great. Good job!

Does the dye come off on your hand at all?

That turned out really well! I still have some Dark Green I used on the plastic scales, so I'm glad to see this works.

The BK 17 still has the foliage liners I got from you the micarta is just a tad darker so you cant really tell it has them. Now I might need orange :)

Nice lookin results there.

I tried my hand at making some homemade micarta from scratch using a green denim material. maybe i shoulda just dyed some.... oh well, next time I'll get it right

Looks really good. I like the dark green RIT. I had my 9 dyed with that and yellow liners a while ago, pre-strip. I just recently did my eleven in it but I sanded it down a little with 800 grit to get the brown to show through a little, I like the two tone circles pattern.

That is all kinds of fine looking. What kind of patina do you have on that? Is it a light coat of gun blue? I like it.

I do my patinas with a little kitchen use. I dont do vinegar or mustard or any of that. Potatoes and onions mostly. The 15 and 5 are much darker because I use them all the time. The 17 was just used enough in the kitchen to get a patina going.

The machax (if that is a 4 in the second pic) is really cool because you can see the brown showing through the dark green on the micarta. Really like that, aced it!

Not sure this will work but I got some leather stain on my micarta handles and it stained it pretty good, I just don't know if it will wear off...

Haha I did that to my Esee 6 I was thinking about dying the whole handle so it looks better.
