Greetings and some questions

Yeah, I went for the WWII. It was that or a BGRS, but that one was nabbed and I saw my chance. Honestly the Pen gave me second thoughts, but I managed to focus...I'm beginning to see what you mean about the addiction. I'm so psyched! I bet you all have fond memories of your first khuk.

Thanks for your help everyone. I guess I'll get to do a real-world comparison between the WWII and the BGRS one day in the future. I'm going to be making so much stuff the weekend after my khuk arrives.

Yes, I've read the safety thread 3 times now, but another wouldn't hurt (haha). My plan for dealing with post-arrival excitement:

Shout and whoop most joyously.
Make some tea.
Re-read the safety thread while drinking said tea.
Open box, enjoy.

In theory, that is a good plan. Will it happen? Well, if it does you have more will power than i can ever hope to have:D have fun, but careful;)

From Bugles and a Tiger, by John Masters:

"A naik (corporal) was cutting scrub with his kukri in order to clear a field of fire for his machine gun. His hand slipped, and the kukri all but severed his left thumb. He looked at the dangling thumb for a moment, then bit it off, put it in his pocket, bandaged the stump with a dirty handkerchief, and went on with his job. In the evening he went to the doctor, pulled the thumb from his pocket and said, only half joking, 'Can you put this back for me, sahib?'"

The moral of the story should be clear: it only takes a moment's inattentiveness to cause permanent damage, and this guy had been swinging one for most of his life.

Good book, by the way.

Dang, you guys are smart! But, that's why I hang out here. I interpreted it to mean that I should always make sure that my pockets have room left in them, and always keep a dirty hanki handy
