I'm having trouble with my finished grinds. I was wondering if you guys after heat treat use higher grits on your sander, or do you hand finish the grind?

I think I'd rather hand finish as I feel more precise than throwing it back on the grinder but. Say I use an 80 grit to finish off the edge after HT, I'm going to want to sand it from tip to butt, instead of edge to spine. So Would I start out with 80 grit to get rid of the vertical sanding lines? Or start lower?

I go back on the grinder after HT and usually take to 220 then either leave it or if I want higher, I hand sand starting at 180 and go up alternating back and forth and on angles so I can see when all the previous grits marks are gone. Check out Nick Wheelers video on YouTube on hand sanding. He put the time in to help us all.

Ok Thanks.
