Hi BF,
I am new to knife in general and just got a USED CRK small sebenza. I was very happy with it because the construction was solid. It has been sitting in the drawer and i usually flip it a couple of times and then back to the drawer it goes. Anyway, a couple of days ago, i accidentally discovery that the grind at the tip of the blade is WAY off. I am not talking about a little bit. I am talking about Way off. I don't know why i have not notice this imperfection earlier. I am also surprise that CRK allow this imperfection to leave the factory. Anyway, any advise would be greatly appreciate it. I've contact CRK but have not heard back from them. Thanks

@Moosestuff...I do not know whether the previous owner fiddle with the edge. I am new so i can not really tell.
I'll take some pictures and post them here.

Are you sure you got a genuine CRK, and not a knock off? Did it come with birth card, box, and other goodies? Please post pics and we can tell you if it is genuine...I am guessing it is not. - Sorry:(

Just as I thought not a CRK edge. Looks like they went a little crazy on the stones and got sloppy. Send it to CRK and have them fix it up, or do it yourself and try and conserve as much steel as possible. It can be evened out :thumbup:that's the good thing, you don't have to fix it all in one go.

Is this the knife you bought from HaloV? http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1052540-FS-Small-Sebenza-21-Mini-Grip-(CHEAP)
If so, it says on the description that ***the blade has been touched up***. Either way I'm sure CRK will get back to you soon.

Yes, that's the one. I'm not sure what "the blade has been touch up" mean :) but now i understand. That's a pretty $hit job of touching up :) Here are the pictures guys..

Yes, i think it is the factory Serration.

I got answer from CRK...They said since this is a second hand blade, NO warranty is offer. However, they'll try to fix the blade for $30+$15 Shipping.

That looks terrible, thats not what I would call touched up either, thats like a re-profiled edge instead and not a very good one at that. I'd be bummed out.

Did the previous seller disclose that it had been sharpened at some point? If not I'd be asking him to pay the $45.00 for the CRK fix. BTW- when you get it back from CRK I'd bet my bottom dollar that it will look like a million bucks.

spend that $45 on a lansky sharpening system and do it yourself!

If that grind was done by the company then that's shocking. A knife costing that much should always be as near perfect as possible.

I am pretty bummed out about it. It's a noob mistake. I was excieted to finally own a CRK and didn't examine it closely. I discover this flaw by accident.

That sharpening system looks good. I was gonna order something similar, the Wicked Edge system.
I am not sure if the seller, HALO V, did the edge himself or if that's the factory edge. I agreed that it would be SHOCKING if CRK let that blade leave the factory in such flaw.

I checked w/ HALO V and he's banned. Not sure if it's worth contacting him. I'm strongly believed in BUYER BEWARE :)

banned.. oh..

might have been redone then, but it's hard to tell wihtout holding and inspecting it. The lansky system has been around a long time and is very popular, I don't own one personally but I know several who do and claim they get the best edge ever from them as they are so precise each time!

I would just suck it up and send it to CRK to get repaired. Then you know it will be fixed right the first time and it will come back as good as new.

out of curiosity what is CRK charging you $30.00 for? All it needs is to reprofile the blade, a relatively simple and common task.

Just sharpen it. I got a used Regular Sebenza a while back that seemed to have only been sharpened on one side for it's whole life and looked much the same.
