Grinder DIY Question: Thoughts on modification of a Craftsman 2x42? (see video)

I'm trying to increase the power (and allow variable speed) of my Craftsman 2x42.

The idea came from this video:

One problem I've had so far is finding an appropriate wheel for the left side of the craftsman. I'm using an old treadmill I got for $30 at a thrift store, which came with this kind of pulley wheel:

and finding a matching pulley wheel with a 10 mm bore is difficult. Any ideas?

Any problem with just using a belt direct from the treadmill motor to the craftsman, rather than having an intermediate pulley? The guy in the video uses an extra pulley to achieve variable speed, which isn't a problem with the treadmill motor.

It looks like he's also increasing the speed with the intermediate pulley (large OD on the intermediate to small OD on the grinder). As long as the treadmill is fast enough for the SFPM you want it shouldn't be a problem to just run directly to the grinder.

You may be able to find the right pulley from McMaster, MSC or ebay.

I live near mcmaster, I'm wondering if they will let me bring my parts over there and find me the right pulley and/or adapter
