So like most of us I am broke and can't afford the grizzly 600$ or the coote or any grinder for that matter. No tools or room to make one (nwg etc). So after searching and having a few items already motor from my 1x42" that is shot ( not the motor the rest of the rig). I found this interesting set up. I know that their will be some modifying and figuring to do but I had to reach out to the BF forums and see the general consensus. Worth the 350$ shipped to my door or not. As I said I have the motor so any advice on where to go from their or what I may need that I am not seeing. Thanks in advance and let me know what you think.

I guess that would would be usable. you would need to modify the platen it looks like. looks like the platen is wider than the belt. maybe other things as well I would wait until some of the pros chime in.

It's an interesting and pretty cool design for the money, since it includes the platen and tracking wheels. You mught be able to make that drive wheel work, but of course it would give you some slow sfpm especially with a 1725 rpm motor. If you could put the drive wheel on a jackshaft, with a step pulley setup back to a motor, you might get a good grinding speed range out of it.

I think the worst part of the design is that you'd have to be listening to an angle grinder the whole time, which won't be a problem if you're using a brushless motor.

Also, that belt size looks odd- long but a bit skinny. I'd probably only pick that machine up if it was compatible with a 2" wide belt.

I do like that you should be able to just make another tooling arm with a contact wheel when you can.

There was a thread about that grinder a few weeks back. Might look for it. The belt size was a concern for me as well. Not sure if they use the common (to us) belt sizes in Eastern Europe.

Thanks guys I can email the maker and get any questions answered. I see some folks from usa have bought these and say good things on ebay. I actually have a new treadmill motor as well as the belt grinder motor so I may look into your idea salem of setting it up on a jackshaft.

I have 8'grinders. I use my original grinder I made 20 years, ago every day. Make use of what you have at the time as you get deeper in your find deals

Maybe just wait until you the money you need so that you have something that will last and be used for a while. Reselling that grinder at a later time will likely result in a big loss money wise. Just a thought contrary to the ones saying just get some thing so you can grind soon.

All great points guys. As I am in a place where I can't do much in the way of grinding due to space etc, waiting seems to be key. So I will hold my pennies for now and save to buy something of quality. Thanks again guys.
