Grinder mounting question, what height?

hey I cant help it if I'm verticly challenged :( :p :D I had to stand on your wallet to use your post vice ;) :D

If it keeps vibrating too much, stick a rubber pad beneath the Coote and the motor and you should be in good shape. Seeing pics of yours makes me miss mine. :( I can't wait until I am able to get back into this hobby...

Great looking grinder. Savour the moment new toys don't come allong every day, well not for me anyway.

I have my grinder and belt sander up on peditals. I got some 4 or 5 inch pipe and sunk them into the shed floor. It works well but the problem is I loose allthe storage space I could have had underneath a bench. I do get good access from all around.

Ok the hieght I am not sure if it is the hieght or if I am just breaking down with age. I feel my sander and grinder are too low they are about waist high on the front contact wheel.

My problem is by the time I have a 2 cartridge dust mask and ear muffs and
glasses I am bending my chin down to my chest to see the grind edge. After a couple of years of this I now get a lot of pain at the back of my neck.

A bit higher may have saved some stress on the neck. It may just have been me and may have caused other problems.

It is just a observation of what has happened to me. I have been telling myself for years I should bolt on an adjustable hight adjustment or perminant spacer. I am basically too lazy for my own good sometimes.

Moral of the story have a bit of a play now while setting up and get what you feel comfortable at. THere seems to be plenty of good ideas around all will work just some better than others for your set up.

I just edited the message: my sander does not have the flat table I hollow frind on the front of the contact wheel.

Very nice setup, Justin. One question; I can't see from your second pic, but how did you mount the motor so it can be moved forward to loosen the drive belt when changing speeds? Or, is your motor permanently mounted? Thanks…
