A black smith friend of mine has decided to take his knife makin hobby to the next level. He is doing his grinding on a slow moving water cooled stone wheel and was blown a way by my bevels made on a 1"×30" grinder. He has fully equiped shop but as all traditional craftsmen he is struggeling to make ends meet. He is not so tech savy and has asked me to find som plans for a grinder. Ive trided to search te forum for plans but did not strike gold.

Im thinking of a 2" belt 1hp motor and a flat grinding surface.
Are there any tried and tested plans that are out there?

Anybody know about any plans using metric measurement?

Check on British Blades in the big boys toys section

There is a fellow there named Allie, Ally ,or some other spelling

He makes KMG clones , I assume he starts with metric raw material sizes

For the most part they don't seem to know about the KMG or NWG there and all call it the Allie grinder.

I;k just start with the KMG clones and adjust from there

NWGS, EERF/GIB, or a KMG clone are the three that come to mind immediately.

The NWGS plans can be purchased at USAKnifeMaker.com for about $25, the EERF plans can be found on the Wilmont Grinders website, for free, and the KMG clone plans are in the stickies, IIRC.

As for metric conversions, it seems like somebody at some time had a version of the GIB/EERF converted to metric measurments, but don't quote me on that.

Greebe- thanks for posting those links. that offroadfabnet plan is exactly what I've been looking for.
