Does anyone know what kind of wheel is on the Hardcore Maximizer as an inside idler wheel? The one that is running on the grit side of the belt?
It appears to be a poly wheel. If anyone has one and can speak to the life of this wheel in such use and whether or not it seems to effect belt life I'd be pleased to hear. I've personally only ever seen them in pictures..... And either I'm looking in the wrong place or they don't disclose these details on their site.

Thanks

Eric

Eric,
I have their early Hardcore Grinder for 15 plus years still running strong and If you are worried that the poly wheel won'y hold up? I have heard from some good sources that Poly can be quite good! The Sunrey co. makes wheels for tanks/armoured vehicles and their poly seems to hold up fine. If Randy put it on the Maximizer, I wouldn't worry about the quality.

Wilmont does the same thing with their Tag 101.. Check out the 2nd and 3rd pictures on this page: http://www.wilmontgrinders.com/Pages/Gallery.aspx

You'll see how the are used with the small wheels to make the belt go around the wheel at a more accute angle to you can really get up in there for small curves on blades etc. I also see one picture (5th from top) where it is set up with their red aluminum wheels for the same thing. Anyway, I'm pretty sure a poly wheel would work fine, since it "is" rotating with the belt.

I have hardcore 2x72 grinder. I can say it's well built and engineered.

Thanks guys. I have no doubt the quality is top shelf. I drool just looking at his grinders. I didn't think there would be any issues, but it never hurts to check.

It appeared to be poly from the pics, and I know a lot of companies are now offering many wheel options in poly... Thanks for answering my questions about it. I didn't think belt wear would really be an issue and glad that's confirmed, I could just see the wheel maybe wearing a bit. So used to seeing everything run from the back side needed to wrap my kind around the opposite. (pun intended...) Reason being I am looking to do something similar here in the shop. Partially to get the size down, but also for a nice tight belt angle around smaller wheels. I'm finally going to put a small wheel mount on and revamp everything around it...

Thanks again, Cheers!
