Grinders Info (Yes, again)

I just built a grinder in a box and I have been extremely happy with it over all. There are things I would change about it but got a full flat platen grinder with wheels, VFD, and 2 up motor for $900. Quite a bargin I think. I am sure the KMG is an excellent grinder but, it was way to expensive for me now.

I am just starting my own build on a NWGS and still deciding on a motor to use. I can find tons of 1hp motors but i'm not sure that's enough. i am thinking of going 1.5 or 2 with a vfd. I can get a motor and VFD at wholesale cost from a buddy but still need to see what the actual cost will be. also trying to source some parts locally just because the usaknifemaker website is sold out of a few things i need like the idler wheels and drive wheel. Also the fact that i am Canada doesnt help the shipping costs on these items any, especially once duty and all the other ripoffs are added. I was at the point where my 1x30 was more of a hassle than a help and could not afford to buy a KMG or other factory grinder so i had to do it myself. I also have no plans to go full time and just do it as a hobby and sell the odd knife. Pretty sure the build should go pretty easy with the fact that i am an electrician, my brother is a mechanical engineer, my buddy is an electrical engineer, and another friend owns a welding and machine shop. I guess we will see though, cant wait to get it finished and start doing some real grinding for a change.

I don't know how the reviews are, but doesn't Wilton make a grinder kit that is pretty affordable? I have the pheer and LOVE it. It makes filing and hand sanding only 5% of the job.
