I'm going to be grinding some 1/8" stock and am wondering if it should be heat treated first to reduce any warpage chances?

What kind of steel?,I grind 1/8" cpm154 before H/T with edge at .015 and don't get any warpage. With 1084 I rough grind and leave the edge at about .040 pre H/T.

Should not be a problem,I grind 3-1/4" folder blades from 1/8" before H/T. S35vn is pretty stable.

Grind them and take to a very good 400 grit finish. The edge should be almost ready to sharpen. After HT you will just clean up the bevels and put the final edge on.

Or higher. I go right up to 2000grit pre-HT on some knives, depending on what I want for a final finish. High-alloy steel are very difficult and time-consuming to handsand after HT.

+1 for that.
What you see pre-HT is sort of what you get on these high alloy steels. If you want a very fine finish, make sure it is there before HT....unless you have lots of time, patience, and abrasive paper.

How high a grit should I go to stonewash?

Hopefully someone with experience will have a better answer, but the guy who does my bead-blasting has me take them to 320-400 before HT. He says any finer than that is a waste of time.

That sounds about right to me, 400 grit or so. If they have even the tiniest scratch the stonewash will make it look worse.

Good info guys.

I am picking up some S30V and this thread answered some questions I had.
