I know that a 1" belt would work great, but what if you only have a 2" belt grinder. It seams to me that the edge on the ricasso side and the tip would thin out quicker than the middle section, if that makes any sense. How do you do it? Would it be easier if the curve wasn't as deep. Thanks!

To grind these , you cant pull the grind straight across, from ricasso to tip or you will as you said thin-out in those spots. If starting at the ricasso, you must pull the blade up...towards the ceiling in an arch. (assuming you grind edge up) At least thats how I've done it. :o I hope that makes sense.

I've seen people tear a 2" belt lengthwise into two 1 inchers. Phillip Patton made a convex platen attachment for his grinder as another solution.

Thanks edro. Shawn I tried it the way you suggested and it worked great. Thanks a bunch. It was so simple of a solution.
