Buy files instead. I cut and profiled my first blade with a dremel. I can't tell you how many packs of sanding drums I went through and how much time was wasted. I can't even imagine putting a decent grind on a blade with one. I have seen some dremeled bevels also.
Buy the files and see if you like it. If you do save up for a decent grinder. A Coote or something similar. Knowing how to work a file will always be useful to you in knifemaking, learning how to get by on tools that aren't cut out for the job won't give you any skills that are portable if you upgrade, but it will give you hours of frustration and a lighter wallet.
