Grinding help

It looks like you basically have a bunch of different bevels going on. You need to learn how to put the knife on the platen gently without really grinding. Once it settles on the bevel then you need to apply pressure and make a pass. Do this all the way up. It just takes practice.

looks like your slack belt gerinding .. Is that what you are doing ? It would be important to know what grinder you are working with as well as what type of belts you are using.. need to know if it is a hard backing or not .

assuming you are starting out....
you might try using the work rest and a push stick

you might also want to try the push stick on some scrap mild steel beforehand so you can see understand what will happen

you have to have more patiance . go to 50 grit first and do equal bevevels on each side . start small ..say 1/4 up on each side ..equal remember this is important. Then start walking it up . couple passes on each side. looks like your trying for a full flat grind . Just slowly go up the blade in steps . That way it is consistant . Is your Esteem variable speed ? Once you get to the top slow it down and go to the finer grits to clean it up . Just dont do to many passes per side , I count as i grind. thats me ,, but definiatly scribe a center line . hope this helps . PM me if you want more help
