I'm getting ready to make a bulk order of belts for my Craftsman 2x42. So far I've been playing around with a variety of grits of the Trizact stuff... and I have not yet developed my own grinding protocol with regards to sequence of belts to use during the grinding process. What would be a good sequence of belts to order for grinding forged blades (with bevels forged - and hopefully minimal stock removal) for me to order.. if I stick with the Trizact belts.... or equivalent?

Thanks!

I only make folders. I yuse my belt grinder to precision and contour grind my blades before heat treaing. I do the bevels after heat treating.
60 grit
120 or 260 Trizact
100 Norzon
45 Norzon or Trizact
30 Norzon
22 Norzon or 16 Trizact
5 Norzon or Trizact. Frank

About every knife maker is going to tell you something a little different. What I use is 60, 120, 220, hand sand with 220 paper a little to knock deep scratches down, heat treat, finish with sharp 220, then go to hand sanding up to 1000. If your just starting I'm sure you'll try a bunch of different ways till you find your way. One trick that will save you some belts is on last step of forging wet your hammer a little then tap your hot blade, it will pop off a lot of the scale. That stuff is pretty hard on a belt.

Where do you guys buy these belts for the Craftsman 2x42? I'm not sure where to find them.
