Need someone to flat grind my profiled small hunters (1084 and 1095) from start to 220 grit. Prefer EastCoast not far from 21702. Any names out there? Thanks

Only person I personally know on here is Kevin McGovern in MD. My personal take on someone just grinding bevels on pre profiled blade profiles for someone else would be who it taking on the responsibility if something goes wrong in the grinding process. Who pays for the mistake/issue? A lot can go wrong even with the most seasoned makers, and would even a seasoned maker be willing to take that responsibility on. You may be better seeing if someone would allow you to visit their shop and help you grind them. IDK Good luck either way.

Yeah, I'd be reluctant to do something like that on another person's knife. I do all my grinding freehand and sometimes a knife i'm working on becomes a smaller knife I'm working on. That said. If you can get out to harford county some time. I'd be happy to work with you on it. I can heat treat as well. I have been helped out a lot by other makers, and I'm always willing to pay it forward.

Your best bet is to post this request in "The Exchange - Knifemaker Services Wanted."

Similar response to Mr. McGovern. I'm in Howard County. I also wouldn't want to do it as a service. That said, I have a belt grinder and disc grinder that I'd be happy to share time on.

Is this for you personally or are you reselling them? If you are reselling them than you should learn how to grind them yourself. Flat grinding is relatively easy to pick up and you will avoid the issues as mentioned above.

Thanks again for offer. My phone is 301-904-4735 and neogeotwo@gmail.com if we could set up a time and place perhaps I could trade or pay for some tips on what I have been doing wrong. thanks .... neil crowner

When it was just a question about who does grinding, I let it go. It has turned into offers and more. It has crossed the line from information to business. Also, registered users are not allowed to discuss selling knives, and it was headed that way, too.

Please keep all buying/selling/offers/etc. out of shop talk. The place for that is in The Exchange.
