I only have the use of a 4x36 belt sander right now, and it sits horizontal, i bought the plans for the no weld, but havent built it yet, i need to make/sell a few more knives so i have the money to buy the parts and build it.
Someone on here suggested using a ceramic tile to act as a flat platen, so that the plunge lines could be done easier, so say i scribe my lines, and grind down to that point with a flat grind, and then use the slack in the belt to round off the cutting edge to where it becomes sharp, is that a convex edge? I dont have the slack in the belt to do a full convex grind, and it seems i can never get the edge geometry totally right, but ive read that a lot of people use a zero edge (terminology?) instead of doing a secondary bevel.
can someone help me?
thanks!
